    Venting
So we get a call Thursday asking us to pop into an estate agent to quote on a vehicle. This morning we get a phone call asking if we will be attending today.

We arrive at the time stated, we were made to wait 45 mins while the boss finished his chat, what company are you he asked, he ticked off our name on a page that had atleast 10 names on there…..
Make your price the cheapest were were told and we will stick with you forever..

All for 2 small cars and a little sign, no more than £350 worth :bangshead:

This is so typical in this day Denise… "no brain, no pain".

I went into an estate agents about 18 months ago, similar type scenario. When he did start to talk to me in front of a few girls in the office, he was all loud and very specific in what he wanted and had to be just right. it was basically a digital wall print covering. As he blabbed his way through it he ended in, "and if you sharpen your pencil on this, i will give you the window graphics to do too". Knowing already what the job was in my head i said something like "£450 vat". quickly butting in he replied "no…no..no… your way too high, have a think about it and as i said there will be more work off the back of it Son"…. Son??? I was probably older than him! I said… "Not a problem, if you cannot afford that i fully understand and thanks for your time" while walking out the door. Needless to say i did not get the job, but at least i heard a chuckle from one of the girls. 😆

Was this guy the company owner? i doubt it. which probably lends more to the way he spoke to me. Total power trip whilst left to man the fort for a few hours. The best of it was… He asked for a full wall, which turned a corner and ran another 10ft or so. But because he kept yapping to me while i measured up, i didn’t measure the shorter wall round the corner. So my price was probably about 9 square metres short in the quote i gave. meaning he was getting a bargain! still i was too dear…

anyway… you win some, some you dont want to win! 😉

Had a charity ask for a price for a banner, leaflets & letterheads. Sent the quote. Then they ask for a design, so threw together an idea for a letterhead.

Get an email back, asking for the designs on the banner and leaflets, before all the quotes go to the committee.

Needless to say he hasn’t got the designs, and was advised to contact us once the committee have agreed a budget.

I never do what is call spec designs, our website shows the quality of our work and customer feedback on said work. I usually find these are the time wasters.

I’ve pushed it to 20 minutes Kev but agree after that there’s no point in waiting as we clearly won’t get on..

I went in to quote for the rebranding of a large local farming co-op when i was new in town.
I was ushered to the desk of the PR lady, where the business cards of my three local competitors were carefully placed, facing me to intimidate me.
I admit to dropping the price to get the job…

As a general rule we don’t, but if we’ve a spare few mins, and feel it might help with a sale we chuck something together, but if we don’t get confirmation/deposit from that point, we pull the plug.
