    Hi all

Im looking in to buying a canon ipf8100, In this country there in the region of about £5500 , In America they are $5500.

Whats the catch apart from the postage, They All have the same content in the box and voltage is 110v – 240v.

    Don’t quite get it

    Cheers Adam

no catch Adam, but you will have to pay import duty, carriage and vat on the invoice price, and duty. so real cost savings will not be as much as you think.
Then if it goes wrong, who will give you the assistance you need?

Take Peters advice mate. Buy it from the uk. Less hassle and local back-up. You’ll find any money you save on the purchase will be lost with all the hassle when something goes wrong. Hoping to save a few quid and hoping nothing goes wrong with the machine is silly as they do go wrong.
Invest the extra cash and get the extra back-up. No back-up = downtime and loss of revenue.

    Karl.

Adam – i would get in touch with canon and ask if they will honour their warranty

a saving is a saving and with a lot of products – especially in todays mail order society – you will return the item direct to the manufacturer and not the vendor, or the manufacturer will send out an engineer to make repairs on site.

    it’s worth a try

this practice is quite common… the products in $ = £. I never imported one tho, just got to make sure you got power supply takes both inputs.

Different product and company, but bought a HP digital camera years ago from staples in the states. That went wrong about ten months later. Staples did not want to know but HP just wanted a copy of the receipt and sent out a new replacement unit.

Like it was said earlier, check out the manufacturer to see if they will honor the warranty.
