I saw this posting and was wanting to know what T-Shirt vinyl is. Is it like heat transfer material, or is it differnet than that. I am new to this industry and trying to learn the industry and learn how to use this forum. So, bare with me on this.
Thanks,

T-shirt vinyl is as you said heat transferable vinyl. Cut it out in reverse, weed it and then apply with heat pressue … preferably using a heatpress for approx 20 seconds to adhere the vinyl to the garment. Then remove the backing! Hey Presto!

We buy from Xpres great product and next day delivery.
Easycut £1.80 + VAT (A3 Sheet)
UltraCut £5.25 Mtr + VAT (50cm Roll)
Printable £6.00 Mtr + VAT (50cm Roll) -
Has anyone used the Printable film from Express. Can I print it with my Solvent inkjet? What’s the quality and durability like? It would make a large bunch of dinghy sailors very happy 😀 if we can get them the (ambitious) design they want for their Class logo.

We use the ColourCut with our Roland Colorcamm PC600, never had a problem with the ink washing off or fading and we’ve been using it for over three years.
It says on the datasheet that it can be used on the Versacamm so you should be able to print it with solvent. Not tried it on our solvents as the machines don’t pickup the small 500mm roll size.

Just a quickie on this, does Oracal have a product for this in Oz.

Not that I’m aware of Lance, but Spandex do stock a flock material for heat transfer. Artmart in Melbourne may too, but my suppliers here discontinued it I think, due to lack of sales.
-
Just checked Lance, They have not discontinued it, just changed suppliers I think. Check it out here http://www.ags.com.au/store/group.asp?GroupID=209

Thanks for the pointer Shane . I’ll be over at Artmart tomorrow I think so I’ll have a poke abaout.
AGS can’t supply to Vic apparently due to distribution aggreements so we’ll see how we go down here. Thanks mate

On the same topic how do they print the football shirt on the professional football players? we have a small production going on in Northern Cyprus and we have been stuck with one person who screen prints our shirts.
But he doesn’t want to try new things or more eye catching stuff. after seeing uksignboards and reading all I can find about printing on shirts I have bout a Roland camm-1 and a Minolta magicolor. after getting some samples from one of the supplier in UK which I found through you guys and ladys. I have made some samples on polyester and cotton but the results has not been satisfying.
now can anyone inform me in more depth what are these professional people using and can I make it also or do I need to invest more on something else!

Murat, I think most of the football shirts and all of the cycling shirts are dye-sublimation printed in panels and then sewn together.

:jump:
Hi everyone
You can print using transfers from a company which supplies them in quanties of 1-1000+. Prices vary on size and number of colours – sublimation can only be done on certain high content polyester and best in white or pre-treated tops which are limited in style. You can also vinyl print of course. Have full info if required.

One of the largest suppliers of sports uniforms use sublimation with JV3 printers I think, got 5 units that run everyday, all day
-
that looks perfect :lol1:
now can you give me some costs on that and what are the machines used.
-
You cannot sublimate onto dark sports garments as this is not possible due to the fact Sawgrass have not licensed supply or sale of the white inks as yet.
When they do it will be a godsend to us who sublimate for a living! 😉
-
Well you can get some realy fancy glittery type effect clothing vinyl now or plenty of bright colours in the same so – go for the heat press method as it is still used for many even "soccer sports and alike use heat pressing if you go in and pick your shirt they then go and heat press what numbers you want on it!"
Most averages are around £6 mtr for clothing vinyl but you can get number templates to save wastage on the vinyl!
-
I got some sample from one of the supplier in UK but I am not very satisfied with the result that is why I am looking for alternatives.
I recently bought cutter as well and colour printer to get the chest logo.
at he moment I am doing my tests by washing the shirts that I printed 40c 60c 90c and have to see before I start giving to my customers.
have you tried the system yourself?
-
Yes we use heat press clothing vinyl with no problems… I have heard from a sublimation forum i am a member that some have had problems with it not adhering to the fabric and this can only be put down to faulty goods purchased as we havent had any problems! 😉

I am not sure i am allowed to mention a company name on here – can anybody advise if its ok to mention or not please as i do nto want to get my wrists slapped just yet lol.

You CAN mention company names so long as it’s not yours (self promotion) or you are not affiliated with it (ie. you’d gain financially).
eg. I buy great vinyls from ‘abc’ and ‘123’. The customer service at ‘xzy’ is really bad. [insert names as required!]

Thank you David.
We use ploter flex from thetransferpress and have had no problems at all with it and also Jan at revolution transfers clothing vinyl is fine from what i have seen and tried – one thing to mention though do not let it cool down before peeling like most stores advise – peel whilst still quite hot!
-
thanks for your help.
that is what I noticed as well when it is hot it is easier to peal the film but when it is cool it damages the edges. ý was wondering if I am doing something wrong. do you have any more tips?
I have 2 things that are in my mind.first is how can I double print let say the inside is black and the edges silver.
second is I have Roland camm cut and after printing the logo of the teem on the colour printer how can I make the Roland cut the edges out so I have a clean logo to heat press.
thank you
-
If you want to double or triple the vinyl then this is quite easy if you just press the first layer for 12-15 seconds and remove the carrier straight away, then place your next one ove and do the same then the last one you give it the 20 seconds and remove the carrier whilst warm still and if any edges do not look correct then put a sheet of teflon over the top and give another 10 secs.
Gareth
-
do you place the second layer on top of the first one or it has to be on the garment?
do you have any idea about the Roland?
I am getting ready to order the material now.
can you make me a list of what I need.
I have:
heat press
Roland cutter
laser printer
software cut studio for Roland
corel 11for material I am thinking to get
vinyl- for numbers and names black-white-green-yellow-royal blue
flock-black-redTeflon
colour transfer paper for logosdo I need anything else?
-
You build them up on the garment by doing each one on its own like above – first decal 12-15 secs peel away carrier whilst hot – place the next decal/layer were you want it over the other one and do the same – and on the last one that is when you press 20 seconds and remove carrier again whilst hot/warm.
In you software you should have the option to print registration marks – use this and then the cutter can find the contour registration marks to work too. the list seems fine ,but be careful with colour transfer paper as some are real crap!
Gareth
-
any suggestion? what to use
what kind of problems will I have. and my main concern is will these transfers come out of the shirt! or will they crack!
-
Murat, does your Roland cutter have an optical eye, so that it can actually find registration marks?
-
it is Camm-1 Servo as I have read over the Internet it does. But haven’t seen anything mentioning on the user manual. do you know where it is on this machine so that I can check.
-
It will be attatched to the cutting head, but I am not familiar with your machine, so maybe someone else here will be able to help you?
-
well after 2 wash vinyl looks fine but the colour transfer print started to come out. I will continue to was it and see what happened. can someone suggest a brand that they have a good result.
