    Hay Guys.

I have a van to do that ha 2 pannels, and the letters go all the way across the side of the van.

whats the correct way to tackle this, is it to lay the letters over the recess and then work them in with a hair dryer or is it to work them in as im laying?

The pannel recess’s are not to deep, but there all the same 🙂

    thank for your help guys.

You could heat it into the recess if your vinyl is up to it, but it may distort the edge of the vinyl a bit. Alternatively, work it in but remember that the return will take a bit of spacing away from your lettering.

    yeah.. what Andy said…
I used to put it in the recess as i go, but the last few i did dry and I went straight over, then worked it in with a bit of heat before i removed the tape. then finished it off after tape was removed. It seemed to work the best for me.
this was with cast vinyl and only one layer, but i’d probably do the same with multi layers.

Del If its only a single recess, and no double corners I would work it in as you go. if its a deep recess I would also give it a bit of heat to finish.
This is the demo that rob did that explains how you work it in if thats the way you decide to go

One other thing to take on board Del is that a hairdryer is no good on its own if you want the vinyl to stay in place once fitted in the reccess. They dont produce enough heat, I’m not very good at fitting vinyl with a heat gun so I always use a hairdryer to fit no matter what I’m doing. Once fitted I will always go back over it with a heat gun, normally twice.
