whats the best way to cut reflective?
Gray we keep a blade especially for cutting reflective, it gets used for nothing else, and obviously the blade for cutting vinyl never gets used for cutting reflective. We get our blades from Edward Mathis they come complete in a holder and when they are blunt you just send the whole unit back and they send you a new unit. As they are supplied in the holder there is no problem trying to set the blade right within the holder. They are much cheaper than any other supplier we have found so it works really well.

Hi Gray,
Like Martin, a “special” blade designated for Reflective and Magnetic use only. If my reflective market ever increased, I would invest in a second holder for the dedicated blade and do a complete swap of blade and holder.
Nice thing with Gerber Omega and the enVision plotter; the “pressure” settings are automatic via the software providing you select the proper materials in setup or output. So a quick swap of the holders and I’m off to the races per say, no messing with weights, springs, etc. When done, swap holders again and I’m back to normal (or as normal as I get! 😮 ). No “test” cuts to make sure the blade depth is correct or that the pressure is right.

bob edward mathias and company (blade suppliers) actualy sell there blades complete with sealed bearing holders.. they give you say 5 with forst order and jiffy bag.. when your on your last one they ask you to return them in bag by post. they then give you new blades re-sealed in the previous holder. makes the blades cut with easy and no snagging when dragging 😉
are are also the cheapest blade supplier in the uk abut have the best blades…why? because they are one of only two blade manufacturers in the uk 😀
now. if you are from the uk and you are reading this. call them and get your blades direct from them. remember to tell them where you saw there name… 😉

I’ll have to second what Robert has said above, they are really good and as the blades are fitted in a holder when you get them there is no messing about setting up blades as Bob does.
Only problem is the guy would probably win a world talking contest so make sure you make yourself a cup of tea and have plenty of spare time before you call !!!!!!
Seriously although the guy does talk a lot he is really helpful and full of useful advice, well worth calling.
