  • whats the best material to use on a roller blind?

    Hi All,

I have a customer that wants to stick his logo onto a roller blind that he has. The letters will work out around 12" tall and 48" long. Can I use the same vinyl that would go on t-shirts and iron it on or will any other type of vinyl do? The blinds are made out of cotton like any old cotton blind in the home.

    Hi Mark

I don’t think any vinyl will really stick to cotton cloth for any length of time. I’d either print on regular lightweight PVC banner material and fit it into the mechanism in place of the cotton cloth, or may be use normal vinyl as a paint mask stencil?

    Cheers

I would go for the paint mask option, done that with roller blinds for car windows

There are companies that print these for you if he is not particularly attached to the blind he has and doesn’t mind parting with the cash for a new one!

I would definitely use the mask with vinyl and paint option, but you might want to paint it first with a fabric medium clear coat (made for painting fabrics so they stay flexible) so it doesn’t bleed through the canvas, & bleed around edges, also get the vinyl off quickly before paint dries so it doesn’t pull up the paint or allow it to bleed underneath. Might be a good use for the sort of ink that’s used to silkscreen t-shirts or fabric acrylics, applied with a roller?
