How easy is it to make 3D letters?

Can they be made out of just steel, or have they got to be stainless?

If you can make them out of steel, do you rust proof the inside?

What thickness of metal would be approprate to use?

What would the best methoid of fixing the return to the face? welding/ brazing/soldering/lead loading???

Is it too much bother, so best to farm it out?

Xmax has always been a slack time for us, so looking to update or own signs (about time too) I don`t mind spending a few bob to get the equipment.

    Sorry for all the questions.

    hi becky,
the cheapest route for you to take and easiest to manufacture is perspex made ones. they are also lighter and no need to colour as you just use the colour of perspex you want.
to bend the perspex into a curve you can use a 3 inch wide mouth blow torch.. (ovens are best) assembling you just use acrylic adhesive.. paul davenport has done an indepth 3d perspex letter assembly demo on this site. but im not sure if thats one that doesnt have the new server links fixed yet.. ill have to get my finger out and complete that. 😕
