  • whats involved in striping a GT40?

Posted by Peter Munday on February 7, 2006 at 5:01 pm

Afternoon all ๐Ÿ˜€ I have been asked to stripe a GT40, and before looking at what was involved I said no problem! ๐Ÿ˜ณ Well I have just googled some pics of one and seen the bonnet recesses ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Any tips from the professionals would be appreciated as I think I’m in deep doo doo ๐Ÿ™„

    Many thanks

we did one of those too!

The original GT40’s mark 1&2 that raced at Le Mans had a single stripe that ran the centre of the car dissecting the 2 air scoops.

I sold that ‘original concept’ idea to the customer that way, as well as being honest about his limited options with the air scoops.

    hope this helps

A good tip would be …. ‘don’t scratch the paintwork’ ๐Ÿ˜ฎ :lol1: have you seen how much they cost? WOW!

Please let us see a pic when you’ve done the job! ๐Ÿ˜€

I’d talk them into painting the orange…. then run tape stripes for the black. You can make a little more money, and it’d be a little nicer.

not the easiest in the world mate… make sure you use a good cast vinyl.
dont rush it and mark it all out with masking tape and pencil before even touching with vinyl. its easy to start off good and begin wondering with work like this.

here is a mustnag i did before christmas. not easy either!

    Wot’s a MustNag Rob?

A Mustang is a type of horse, and a Nag is a type of horse. But a MustNag is surely a type of wife ๐Ÿ˜•
