I used their clear stuff nice and see thru can get it in different widths 300 I think mine was but I didn’t get a chance to use it someone else did the applying though.
Went on easily and a lot thinner than the clear I use at the moment though there is nothing wrong with it sticks to well to to good at times it seems

Had a problem that last job with it actually sticking to the vinyl it didn’t seem to want to lift it from the backing paper no matter which way I tried it Just about to do another job with it and I shall see if its the same.
NB this is not the europoint stuff mentioned above.

This week i booted Conform into touch after using it for close on 7 years in favour of LG application tape (from All Print Supplies, Slough)

Conform has be slowly declining in quality over the last 2 years and LG now makes the best, in my opinion, at a very good price. As much as i love Oracal vinyl from Europoint, i feel their app tape leaves alot to be desired.

i use paper tape from europoint, never have any probs at all…
i went through a period before i started using oracal products.. never again.. i would get a great sample and decent price from reps.. then i start to buy… month or so down the line the tape gets worse and worse..
my opinion, and only my opinion, was i got what i wanted first few times then they started giving me cheaper stuff.. i cant proove that. but this stuff was night & day with what i was given as a sample. terrible..
i just order tapes in various sizes when getting vinyl. seems easier keeping the tape and vinyls under the one roof.. well, the bulk anyway.

i havent tried conform rod, well not that i can remember.. tried so many now.. ive heard a few say its good!

Yer Rob, i always sang Conform`s praises but it seems like each roll has a different level of adhesive on it. Infuriating when your 15th foot up a tressel or trying to apply small lettering with customers whinging down the phone wanting a pick-up time etc.

I`ve been trying this LG stuff for about a month now and i`m very impressed. It reminds me of how Conform used to behave.

Was buying the conform from Scotmark (Andy Beverage) as he beat APS`s price originally.

I`m now getting the LG high tack tape from APS again for appox £50.00 per 1220mm roll (50m slit in half so 1 x 610mm = £25.00 ish) although i`d need to confirm that 100%

i love europoints tape!! never had any problems what so ever!!

tried a sample from spandex and it’s really good and i asked for a price on a full log, £45 plus vat so i’m going to give it a try, as i use an awful lot of 610 wide for the tape applicator!! will let you know how i get on!!

We have used conform for over two years now and never had a problem, we pay approx £50ish I think for 1220mm log split in 2 from Victory …. this price is a special offer price which to be honest is on offer a lot …. don’t think we have ever paid full price? We have tried europoints tape but we didnt get on with it at all but I suppose everyone has their own likes and dislikes with every product.

I’ve been looking at tape applicators recently. Prices vary from 49.99 to over 250 squids! Perhaps a useful thread would be product reviews of these? Anyone got one? Any good?

    Tape applicator?????

Try a large flat table, unwind the application tape then *apply* the vinyl to the application tape ( not application tape to vinyl) by making a valley with the vinyl to the centre, drop the centre first and smooth out to the edges, run out with felt squeegee over the carrying paper of vinyl, turn it over, no creases, give it another rub over, perfect application paper applied. You will need a flat table though, and of course the application paper must be flat, hence the flat table, works the same as an applicator just the other way around, and not as expensive, well, costs nowt.

    Hi Nik,
Someone here did a demo a year or so ago on making your own out of the roll centralisers that normally come in the box from the suppliers,( if anyone is interested) , if you do want one, this is cheaper and does the same job 😉

    hi outline!!

yes i know about that thread, and my posting was a ‘home made one does not look so nice in my workshop as a bought one, and i want it to work’!! something along those lines!! personal preference i would say, if you have the time to make one, and don’t want to part with your cash!! 😀 😀 😀
