    Hello to everybody out there.

We would like to have some opinions Regarding wrapping vinyls.
We think Mactac 5529 is good , but the question is …
Can it be removed after 18 months if the owner of the vehicle decides to change the wrapp.
I also think Oracal 3951 is good but how can they be remove after a couple of months.
We laminate the media with liqiud laminate and we use KPMF VWS at the moment, But this media is not good for deep corners.

Anybody recommends a good media which can be removed and is very good as 5529 and 3951

i agree kpmf is NOT good for recessed areas. it will pull out and it does lighten/whiten when stretched if using dark colours.

i product tested grafiwrap (two part wrap) wrap and laminate. found it very easy to work with and apply. stretched very nicely and removed it a few months later in seconds, leaving no glue what so ever. (see video demos) i haven’t used grafiwrap enough though to give a longer reply or go into detail, but what i did with it it worked perfect and i think anyone experimenting should find it pretty easy too…

oh having said that, i think kpmf wrap is easy to work and handle. its a thick vinyl and is pretty forgiving.

3M controltac is a nice vinyl to work with, has a sorta rubbery feel to it.
although i never had any reports of my own apps failing, i have heard of many horror stories around the UK. that said, i believe that inexperienced sign makers may have been applying it. so i guess its not really fair for me to knock it, but worth mentioning i think.

mactacs macfleet wrap is a temperamental vinyl, you have to really know what your doing with it. proper fitting conditions is essential. e.g. warm room…
that said, it is a damn good wrap, comes in many colours and stretches like chewing gum. i have never had one bit of bother with this vinyl once its on, its on…
downside is removing it… very difficult. i haven’t had to remove any work i have applied with it, but once i made a pigs dinner with it on a simple flat section of a van. i decide to remove and apply another bit. this took ages 😮
mactac now do another version of this vinyl that can be easily removed and repositioned i believe… but i haven’t got round to using it yet.

oracal has a new wrap out.. command form. I’ve heard good reports from various places around the world but I’ve yet to use it. i do have it to product test very soon so it should be interesting.

Avery easy apply? haven’t used it nor plan to. i hear very good reports about it etc etc but i think it is over priced and I’m not convinced it will stay in recessed areas. but i could be wrong. this is just my opinion though and would be better tried and tested before making judgment.

i have 3 vans to wrap of our own just now… my choice of vinyl will be garfi-wrap or oracal command form. I’m not 100% which one, just now i am considering trying both on different vehicles. i know fine well because its our own vans ill change it now and again so thats why im not using macfleet or i guess that would be the one, i also like to try various types of vinyls so it will be good to get a bit of experience with the others too.

I have used both the 3M Control tac, and the 3951. Both are exellent products, but I think the 3951 is the better for deep recesses.

As far as removal goes, Oracal advertise that the 3951 can be removed without leaving any glue, for upto 4 years from application.

    Cheers

We’re doing a truck cab in a couple of weeks, changing the colour to silver. Anyone recommend a good choice for that? I’m also wondering the best way to lay the vinyl, vertical strips still?

    Avery900 supercast would be my 1st choice, 3M 7725/oracal 751c my 2nd choice.

We Asked for some details regarding Oracal 3951 at Oracal factory.
They said that the 3951 must be laminated with oraguard 290.
Its a must for best results.
The problem is the cost will be very expensive to have a full wrap.
