Lose the drop shadow on the number.
Change the other drop shadow to a soft grey.
That large block of sub copy could be placed inside of a panel and reverse cut.
That would help to "ground" the kart.
    That’s what I’d suggest.

    PS
went to a kart championship in England this past May,
to watch my signwriter friend Catherine.
    She’s hell on wheels!

hi jill, cheers for the reply.

i have added a background colour, changed the shadow on the name and removed the shadow on the number, as well as removed the sub text.

    what do you think??

karting is a very exciting and exillarating sport, everyone should have a go…………

    cheers

    No….while the design looks 100% better….
now it is overwhelmed by the background.
Remember that just because you CAN print a rainbow, it doesn’t mean you have to!
    Remember the KISS principle.

Just a rough idea. Trying to make the photo more of a feature.

    that looks great andy, cheers

just a quick one though, how did you create the shape to the base of the pic?

It’s just a cropped bitmap. I rubbed out bits of the photo until it looked right, then drew a frame and added a shadow.

i’ve tried to create something similar but can’t get the shape/ angle of the frame.

What I did was draw a rectangle and then use the ‘add perspective tool’ (in Coreldraw) to get it at a suitable angle etc. I then used this as a guide to crop the photo to. Then I outlined it to make the white frame and added a drop shadow to it.

Here’s another example. It’s quite easy once you try it out a few times. Easier in Photoshop.

    I like it…lots.
But I think you need to either bump up the "create a new look" part
or else put it over the helmets.
This has been interesting to watch!
