  • what way can i apply same design onto 2 different sides?

    Any suggestions for this one?

the recess are quite deep on the passenger door, so I dont really want to lay vinyl over it as it will distort the owners name (P C Lavin) But I cant really see an alternative.
Why design 2 sides different anyway (probably so a window could be fitted?)

    peter,

the new Hino cab is a b****, i did one a month back with the same problem, had no option but to go over the recesses, looked ok, customer was happy enough, Told him to buy a Scania next though. easier to sign :lol1:
The recess is there for a window. the silly thing is it an optional extra :lol1:

Obviously designed by a disgruntled former signmaker Peter. What a nightmare, cant see a solution to that.

That’s just nuts Peter 😮 Why would they do that?
Our local vehicle manufactures are exporting to country’s that drive on the wrong side, so they’ll do a mirror image of the vehicle, never seen one that is different from one side to the other.

How much more expensive is that to tool up for I wonder? Is the door configuration different in America I wonder?

Sorry for the dumb questions. Its late here….. 😳

You are going to have to bite the bullet and go over the crease tho, needs to match both sides eh..

We have to deal with that issue all the time, especially on the big rigs.
    (opposite door tho)
    😀
I would just design the name is a straight text, on the traditional side, and simply make the recessed side version a bit smaller. I do that all the time, and the customer understands.
Or be creative with your placement without it looking too weird.
    Love….Jill

kinda stuck with that one eh, im in agreement, have to match the designs each side, but the recesses dont look to deep, mind you cannot see from the pic.

Thanks Jill and Terry for the ideas, I have now sort of found a solution, I will post If the customer likes it.

Just goes to show, "designers, signs or trucks, who needs ’em" 😉

In the US we have the same things with the different doors except our curbside one has it since we drive on the opposite side :lol1: There is usually a window where that deep recess is.
