Anybody know what brand of vinyl this is or something very close. It’s a metallic green but more British racing green in hue.
Thought the hexis KG9806 would work but too light.
It actually seems to be transparent vinyl when you peel the backing back. But assume it is just a thin cast as it has been wrapped to the vehicle originally
It for the actual Colin McRea WRC car shown so want to be perfect.
The sample is from a spare decal that I managed to get.
There is a small “a” in the corner of the backing paper and it feels Slippy to handle.

    Many thanks

    Ian

That’s a 3M backing paper if it helps narrow it down.

    if 3M…
why the letter "a" and looks like an "l" next to it in a serif font?
it is the carrying paper that is throwing me on any suggestions I may have!

I have just checked the following vehicle wrap swatch books, even n older Arlon one.
the only one fo these 4 books is Oracal 970.
it has a metallic green as you see and it has a clear adhesive too, which lets light through like you have shown.
however, that carrying paper/liner has me stumped.

it could be as you say, just a metalic cast film.

    Hi Rob / Gil
Yea the liner is what has me stumped as well.
I initially said it was 3M when the customer sent me photos of the sample before actually receiving it.
The liner has a totally different feel to you usual type and like you rob I thought it was “al” in the corner.
Although that was making me think maybe 3M scotchcal like you used to see on 3M films years ago .
Found this and am hopeful it’ll right.

What age is that cat now 2003?? Probably well gone now & be faded even if u do get it. Is there much to do?? I’d nearly just redo the lot. That car be well worth the investment & if the owner doesn’t want to let him go botch it up some where else.

    Hi Bernard,
The entire car has to be done as per original,it’s currently undergoing a full concourse restoration to as new condition.
and will join a very nice collection of Group B, Group A, and early WRC Cars .

The small sample piece has never seen daylight before so colour is correct, from further enquiries it seem to be as i posted above, 3M 100-2451.
The problem is it’s seems to be discontinued in the UK/Ireland,
Does any of the UKSB contingent from oversea, in US or Australia have any £M suppliers that they might check with to see if available over there.
