  • What vinyl for painted walls?

Posted by Martin Manley on July 20, 2012 at 1:09 pm

a customer wants slogans written on the walls of his gym so i’m going to try and vinyl them. The walls are painted with silk emulsion so my first thought is using banner vinyl to conform to any undulations – unless anyone has any better ideas…..
    Cheers

Avery have a vinyl print material especially for walls. Print and cut would work.

Otherwise I’d go for a good quality cast material if you want it to last.

Silk or teflon enhanced paint will always be an issue though as it will repell the adhesive eventually, unless it is something like a hi tac with a plasticer barrier adhesive.

I would also go for a cast film. Once you "carefully" remove the application tape, making sure you don’t take emulsion paint with it, go over the vinyl again with a heat gun and soft application roller. foam roller is best and apply as much heat as you can leading the roller.
cast will conform better to the rough brick texture.
