Hi everyone, can anyone suggest some vinyl i can use on an inflateable boat? Its a proper sea one with an engine on it, just need advice really on what i can use, and also is there any steps to prepare the surface?

    thank you

I dont have any direct experience, but I would suggest using proper truck curtain vinyl, I cant see why it wouldn’t work, salt, water, wind, heat and cold don’t appear to effect curtain siders.

Thats a great idea, and yes they do get battered by the elements!
Can you recommend a good supplier? My local suppliers only do standard vinyls and banner vinyls, just had a quick look on victory website theres nothing there so maybe i should give them a ring in the morning.
    Thanks 🙂

thats what i would do, but it depends what ink you use, they dont all work, most flake and rub off, i would try applying to a small area of the boat first just to see if it grips, also adding rigid vinyl thinners helps it along also 😀

Im looking for something similar for boat fenders. Managed to use std 5-7 yr vinyl and it sticks well, but Im looking for something harder to remove and a mask with ink could be the way to go. Just contacted an ink supplier and am waiting for a response.

As to RIB names, I have used cast with absolutely no problems providing what you do is not on a high ar$e traffic area, as the tubes on smaller ribs double up as seats!

We find that on some things the ink is not durable enough – especially when it is subject to a lot of rubbing…so we use a mask and spray with vinyl upholstery paint (talk to your local automotive shop) and that works very well
