What type of vinyl?
Hopefully this is the right forum for this type of thing!
This is probably an obvious question for most but I just want to check before I start to quote for it – What type of vinyl should I use for the "swoosh".
By the way this is not my design but it is what the client wants!

As you are a UKSG member you will already be getting discount on all oracal products from Robert Horne, regardless… i personally would use Oracal 751c but you will get away with Oracal 551 also… which costs a bit less. (do NOT use Oracal 651 for this)

you could use most 5-7 year vinyls, cast or calendared.
metamark 7 series is cheaper than oracle 751, and maybe a little more forgiving to apply.

Any better quality calendered would do for that.
I’d use Avery 700 series.

Could some of you give me a crash course in vinyls? ie. The types and the most suited use – cast vinyl is normally used for…. Calendered is mainly for…..
I am a self taught and normally just use Avery 500 – I never thought to ask if there were alternative vinyl’s other than those for digital prints (vehicle wrapping type)! When it comes to recesses I try to apply the vinyl without stressing it. The problem with this is that it is hard to judge exactly where the graphic will then end up!

Monomeric calendered 3/5yr. Short term use. Indoor usually, but outside for very limited life.
Polymeric calendared 5/7yr. Medium term outdoor use. On vehicles for flat panel work, and maybe on curves, but only simple straight ones where it can be fed in without stretching.
Cast 7/10yr. Anything involving compound curves, or requiring a very long life.
That’s the basics, but there are shades of grey. Some polymeric calendereds perform better than others, both in life expectancy, and what you can do with them. Some are easier to work with, but that can be a bit subjective, so only by trying them will you discover the brands you prefer. We all have our own preferences; for instance Jill hates Avery, whereas it is my weapon of choice.
I prefer to stick (excuse the pun) with well known reputable brands.
Another rule of thumb is never to believe what the sales folk tell you. If you take their claims, and cut them in half, you will be about right.

That gives me a bit more confidence when I am talking to suppliers as I didnt feel knowledgeable enough to query what vinyls etc they were proposing or advising.
