    hi,

just back from meeting a potential customer / timewaster!! I quoted him last year for some signs totalling near £500, today I walk in and he bring up on screen some visuals from another sign company (fairly small like myself) and says shall I just print these off for you and can you quote like for like, he then says that they were too expensive, added to this he is a total david brent type JuanKerr !!! Tempted to call this other company up and tell them they are probably wasting there time, seems the type who wont pay either , just had to rant a bit sorry…upshot is I really dont need the hassle, what do you reckon.

ps: he has taken nearly a year to get back to me from previosu quote!!

definitely contact the other company, they may want to put a bill in for the design, unless they already have done of course in which case he is entitled to use them.
I think you should speak to them anyway just to check, its good for inter-company relations.

if you have had a meeting then you should have found out more like ,
how much is to expensive and for exactly what.
what budget do you have in mind.
will you pay upfront or deposit.
    when do you want them.
then its make your mind up if he is telling fibs or if you want the job or not.

if you are on good terms with the other sign co nothing wrong with speaking with them.

In a situation like that – if I don’t really want to do the job I’ll pitch in with a high price myself to make the other sign company look good 😉

phill continuing on your good customer relation training 😉

that makes you look bad, my view would be.
thank you mr customer for the opportunity but that type of work is not our specialty, or we are not geared up for that type of work and we understand our price may not be competitive.

however should you want xy or z i am your man.

i think you would come out of it with respect and probably a call next time.

In these sorts of situations when looking for answers… I normally ask myself, what would Basil Fawlty or Alan Partridge do? 😕

what do you expect to see out of a Torquay hotel window. 😀
