What’s your preferred Parcel delivery provider?
I thought I would post this to ask what other peoples preferences are for courier delivery services?
We normally use TNT, occasionally DPD and never really have any major headaches in as long as I can remember.However, in the past 4 weeks, we have had three different Parcels, from three different suppliers not arrive!
One ended up being located and returned to a depot in England. By then we had sourced it again elsewhere.
Two other separate deliveries, the parcels went completely missing. One we had to get a refund and the other is in Limbo just now because the supplier is closed due to Corona.
My point in this is, these three different parcels from three different suppliers were all being delivered by YODAL.
Now I know they are a massive company and cannot be successful if this is the norm, but this is ridiculous!Is this just coincidental or do others find this with Yodal?
I would be also interested to hear in who you use and why?

For Renfrewshire, my experience has been:
DPD – by far the best
Parcelforce – no issues
TNT – f**cking horrific – the worst
Hermes – okay
Tuffnells – okBut when I speak to friends down south, they say DPD are bad and TNT are good?

My heart always sinks when I see that parcels have been despatched with Yodel. They are crap. We’ve had them trying to deliver at 10.00pm when the site is shut, and had a message saying that they tried to deliver, but we weren’t there.
We have the best results with TNT & DPD. Hermes, DHL & UPS could all be better. Fedex seem to be pretty useless, pre-noons that don’t arrive until mid afternoon, or don’t turn up until the next day.

When I see something has been dispatched by Hermes or yodel I lose all faith it the item arriving.
Receiving order in Glasgow we get excellent service from DPD and UPS, fedex is useless, TNT we only receive metamark and it’s always good service. DX isn’t bad either.
Sending out, UPS for us every time. 8-10 parcels a week for the last 4 years and never a single problem.

Don’t often send stuff out so not sure about dispatching but DPD & APC are bulletproof round our way, regular drivers are a huge bonus as they get to know our names & numbers. Very often get a call from them if we’re out on site

FedEx/tnt go above and beyond up our neck of the woods. Same delivery driver every day to (old boy called Mac). We’ve had parcels delayed by a day or whatever, call the depot, they’ll go look it out for us and we can grab it or they will ask Mac to come to us first instead of half way round his route. Which is pretty cool. They just have to deliver. They don’t have to keep us that happy.
We use parcel monkey for posting the odd bits. Normally ends up going with parcel force though. Nothing lost so far.
The worst was M&H carriers for sheets from Europoint. One day I was the only one in, just sending an email. Right at the end. I said to the boy two seconds and I’ll be right with you. Just as I got to the door he had climbed into the truck. As I got 2 steps out the door he pushed the sheets off the truck down onto the tarmac. Of course all the corners where knackered. Response "they should package them better, that’s mental" safe to say I had a few choice words. Thankfully they have switched or become Northwoods which so far is 100 times better and actually some care. We had sheets come that looked that they had been ran over by a forklift and everything.
I’ve got to say though delivery is quite impressive. I mean we are up in Inverness. I can order from victory in Chester (think there chester if top of my head) at 4pm and have it with me the next day by fedex at 11am. Sometimes 10:30. We also send trade t-shirt transfers to a company in Devon which about 11 hours drive from us. With stopping more likely to be 14. Again if I send with Royal Mail first class at 4:45pm they have it in the letter box at 9am the next morning. That’s pretty dam impressive personally.

DPD – Pretty good now (had issue in past with collections), my normal day-to-day courier.
TNT – Not used them.
Yodal – slow, very slow & cheap
Parcel Force – Expensive, only used for critical timed delivery -
We use TNT and DPD but recently DPD have started charging a fortune for anything over 1m. Which is most of our parcels so mainly TNT now.

Mainly Royal Mail, if sizes allow, and if not it used to be TNT as we have a depo locally so if required urgent order we could drop of to them by 20:00 for a next day delivery.
Juts recently opened a Parcel Force account and prices we have been given are lower compared to TNT we have been charged on most sizes. Benefit we do not need to measure parcels or even weight them just enter the address and print label book a collection, so processing is much easier. Just need to integrate their service through API to ship from our platform.
Tho TNT was always highly rated by myself, all stock we order gets delviered via them, same driver never a single issue we have had with them from a receiving deliveries and sending through them.
Will see how Parcel Force will prove them self in longer run.

typically I use interparcel as I don’t send much by courier, usually only if urgent (and I can’t get to PO before closing) or if it’s over 5kg and not massivlet valuable. I always send via TNT next day guaranteed, never had a problem. maybe once in a while DHL. Always insured to the value.
Generally I ship using the PO, if over £50 I insist it goes by special delivery and is insured to the correct value, some of my orders may not be massively heavy but can be in excess of £1k.
I have one guy that usually complains (a particular wholesaler) that their £600 order is costing £25 to ship, but they always relent if I ask them so sign a waiver that passes financial liability if it goes missing, or they arrange their own courier / risk.
