What’s the most cost effective antivirus program on the market….?

I think my computer may have a virus as some of my e-mails are being blocked by various companies…

There are loads of anti-virus companies, I had Dr Solomon years ago untill they were bought up and became McAffe. At that time we changed to Norton Anti-virus, pay annually, and have their “live-update” which does what it says updates whenever you are on line. have caught many viruses but not been affected myself. Its cheap insurance….especially today with broadband connections etc. A Firewall and AV programme are a must.

I also use Norton, think it cost about £25 a year. It catches loads of viruses & as Henry said updates altomatically. Go get it!

You can get a free download from AVG….GRISOFT
Updates automatically & is as effective as norton…We run Both and they work equally as good… AVG is free…Norton is a subscrption per year…

If you have a virus…download AVG and scan straight away…it should Quarantine or cure…

FREE the swear word that should never be uttered. 🙄

Perhaps a lot of us make a darn site less, and therefore have less to squander, than some imagine.

There is also this myth that everything in life should be paid for to be of any value.
Would we say the same of all the help and information freely given here on this site (?)

Calm down Alan only joking! 😆

I have never heard of the virus software you use, personally I would rather spend the £25 & stick with something I know. Maybe I am in the minority, wouldn’t be the 1st time! 😆

I use norton at work and Mc Afee at home both do a great job as i’m please to say i’ve never had virus trouble.

Of the free ones available AVG is reportedly very good but i can’t really comment as i’ve never used it.

But as has already been mention virus scanners are no good unless you keep them upto date – this needs doing every couple of days or so, but most have automatic updates and will tell you.

ah, but a virus could prevent me making a sign and therefore I should inform all signmakers – people who make signs – in the sign forum not to get a virus by informing them of my problem and therefore allowing them to continue to make their signs 😕

    Erm,

    Sorry 😳

    Gav,

Sorry to hijack your post, but something Brian said was a topic of fodder this past weekend.

    Brian,

I just held a one day seminar on a sign software program (Gerber Omega) this past Saturday, and during some “open” time this very subject came up. Not sure about you guys on the other side of the pond, but here State side, it’s simply amazing to watch the same people that gripe about customer being “cheap” turn around and be some of the most “cheapest” chaps in the world.

Please don’t misunderstand, I’m not for foolishly spending a pence or quid, but if it’s required to do the job, especially if it saves me labour as well, then I’m all for it. After all, it’s the customer that’s paying for it, not me, so let them decide if it’s to much money.

SignGold is a great example. All too often I hear that it’s “so expensive”. Expensive compared to what? What are the viable options; a real gold leaf job, use SignGold, or pass something else off. It’s not up to me to determine what is expensive to my client or customer, only they can determine the value for themselves for any given project or design. My prices reflect, in part, to what material cost is. If the material for a job cost $100.00 USD or $500.00 USD, it’s reflected appropriately in the price. Again, the customer can determine if it’s “too expensive”.

    AVG here too
Has worked well up to now and constantly updates

Although Grisoft have a commercial version, more knobs and buttons but you pay a subscription.
