360×720 bi directional is good for general purpose and speed,

signlab and mimaki jv3, I mentioned the rip as I do think it makes a difference to the end product.

    what I use most anyway

    Hi Pete
similar here Soljet SC545 Versaworks 360 x 720, however of late it just seems that some color’s are harder to get a perfect finish on without having to go to a higher resolution. May be i’m just getting to fussy in my old age.

I print everything at 720 dpi bidirectional 16 pass bit slow but good quality, to speed things up I do a lot of banner stands etc and normally print two at a time.

Uniform Grenadier 1.9 Meter with Activasol Inks and Wasatch RIP.

    vinyl/most – 720×720 uni directional with about 8 passes.
banner – 540×360 uni directional with about 8 passes.

    never fails.

Shiraz 6.40 with Mimaki JV3-160S which is not a 160SP

I find the size of the finished item makes a big difference – on very large prints, that are going to be viewed from a long distance then low resolutions are OK, but for small stuff I alwys do them in very high resolution as they tend to be looked at more closely, and the pixelation from low res printing is a lot more noticable.

On the SP, printing at 1080×1080 for small decals, and overprinting to get a good solid colour can get results similar to screen printing quality.
