  • What print quality can i expect from a printer

Posted by Robert.Simpson. on February 28, 2009 at 8:20 pm

Iv recently bought a mutoh value jet and after printing some labels I was looking at the print quality and noticed that the straight black lines are not perfectly crisp.

Also there seems to be a bit of mottling.

Is it possible any one could post up a picture of what they consider to be a good quality print.

As Im wondering if Im nit picking.

    Thanks Again

loads of things can alter the results you get.
    Resolution
    Artwork
    Vinyls
    Profiles & Speed

Best thing is to print either a box or lines changing some of the above until you get the required result.

Very difficult wit so many variables……as Kevin said…….is it a new machine?

Output should be photographic quality if all the variables are right.

Depends on the age of the print heads.
If their new then I’d expect pretty good results, if old then a bit of overspray etc is to be expected.

My Uniform Cadet is getting on a bit now and small text and lines are a bit "furry".

As said above try a few variables.
Media can make a big difference as well.

    hi steve

did you know Roland DG are doing a special offer at the moment to turn your machine back into a roland sp300, they swap out everything out that has been touched by uniform ink. you get new heads, dampers, all new lines and capping station all for £900 if your machine is otherwise ok. they give you a 12 month warranty on all parts, not just whats been changed but the whole machine… and a free copy of Versaworks or Color rip depending on the serial number on your machine.

its a pretty good deal to get a machine back to near new with a full warranty, especially when due to the dreaded yen, the new VP300 is just shy of 11 grand & the vodka and tonic.

i just bought a uniform cadet and i am having it converted by roland next week. hope i have done the right thing, had a mimaki before but the out of warranty is almost 3 times more expensive than a roland.

Question am i going to happy with this after owning a JV3.??????

Hi Simon, yes I’ve been thinking about this for a while but at the moment it’s printing ok (should I have said that?) and I’ve plenty of ink so I may look to doing this in a few months.
