  • What piece of equipment can’t you do without?

Just thought I would start a thread to see which odd things people have in their tool boxes or vans that they tend to use a lot and would be stuck without.

I have a couple.. My main one is a a small set of fold away platform ladders that I bought on whim from B&Q years ago.. they go everywhere with me and have proved invaluable…
The other is something I picked up on this site from the snippits .. 5 magnets which I have glued a bolt on the back of.. fantastic idea for holding grapics in place on a vehicle.. you can slide them into place very easily without having to keep peeling bits of tape..

    Just wondered what others had..
    Cheers

My joinery belt (alternatively known as my Batman utility belt).

Holds everything for me, squeegee, blades, tack rags, tape measure, chalkline, marker pens etc etc.

I’d be a bit knackered without a squeegee or a computer. I found myself on site once to fit a van livery without a tape measure. That was a bit of a pain. In short, I suppose, I need all my stuff. A standard vinyl application kit can contain an awful lot of things, plus some that I’ll never need until I throw them out. Oh, and a sarnie.

Not guilty Rob… I did not go this year…
Saw the idea on here and then went to local craft shop to get some…
Couldnt get them off very easily thats why I glued the bolts on the back..
Just one of the many ideas I have picked up since joining this site

I would have to agree with McRod! That chippy tool belt is a great addition to your fitting kit.

I keep forgetting to take my chippy belt with me

Only remember when I’m up the bloomin’ ladder with half a dozen things in my hand.

Hard to say what’s the most essential thing really. You can bet that the only item you haven’t got with you is the very one you desperately need. You find your miles from base so you pop into the local DIY only to pay ten times more for something you have half a dozen of :banghead:

    A pair of shades 😎
To stop being snow blinded when doing a white van on a sunny day.

A pair of fingerless gloves 😕
To keep hands warm when scraping off the ice before degreasing a van.

    Heat gun :yikes:
for warming up my cold fingers after scraping off the ice…. oh, and handy for warming up a cold van surface…. also quite good for toastie cheese sarnies.. if desperate.

    Cheers, Steve :drums:
