what paralell to USB converter will work on new PC?
Just got a new PC but it doesn’t have any COM ports or parallel ports on the back. My Mutoh SC750 is currently plugged in to a COM port on the current PC via a parallel/com converter.
If I get some sort of paralell to USB converter will it work ok on the new PC?

Yes there are plenty of usb to serial and parallel convertors about but having tried both types I found they are not 100% reliable which may be down to the software drivers or the amount of data being sent. Our Mutoh SC650 used to work fine as does an older Gerber plotter but our Summa D60 often fell over half way through the cut. It may be necessary to slow the port down to make it work.

I tried a USB to parallel lead but couldn’t even get a connection to my Roland PNC950.
When I upgrade the PC I will fit a PCI serial or parallel board instead. -
I am quite suprised… i would have thought that the usb/parallels should work fine.
I actually have a usb/serial on the cnc… not a problem with it
