  • What material name /where to order it

Posted by Iain George on November 13, 2015 at 4:58 pm

    Hi guys
I know I don’t post very often but I am always reading the post on here. I have been asked to provide some name inserts for a local doctors surgery. I have attached a photo of what they have at the moment.
It is a very flexible 2mm thick piece of plastic with a brushed finish to the front and black to the rear.

I know I could order some 2mm composite with a brushed finish but would like to know what this material is and where to order some.

    Many thanks

    Iain

I asked someone for you and they said it looks like ‘sign slatz’. A nice little Google search appears to confirm that!

Could you post a link please as a search for me just brings up german road signs showing the word platz, or do you mean slatz?

Apologies Iain, I did indeed mean slatz!

Is it Traffolyte? other makes available but usually know as Traffolyte, can get it for engraving or laser engraving and comes in a range of colour combinations.

Do a google and you’ll see what it is as it may be what you need.

Thanks Warren but it is not Traffolyte as it only has 2 layers. The thickest part being black and the thinnest layer of brushed something on top which has been engraved.
As I also do sublimation products I am just going to order some metal panels from a company called Sublimetals and just print onto them. The client wants a whole new set of names so doing them this way is not a problem as they are going to get rid of the old ones.
Thank you all for looking and helping.

    Many thanks
    Iain

    Hi Ian

This looks like rowmark material to me which you can get a brushed finished face and black core

This is the same as Traffolyte if I’m not mistaken, Iain you’ve described traffolyte exactly, contact Trotec as they will supply samples and be able to advise further (if you don’t want to go the sublimation route)

    Cheers

I think Master grave do it in Gold and Silver, I’m sure I’ve had the gold a long time ago but don’t have any left to check.

Lots of different brand names like "Traffolyte" or "Rowmark" knocking about but basically it’s an engraving Laminate you are looking for. Lots of different types available. Google search for engraving laminate with throw up the usual supply companies like Trotec, Suregrave, Mastergrave etc.
