  • What is your preferred size and colour for banner eyelets?

Posted by Jon Miller on September 9, 2015 at 10:36 pm

The die on my eyelet press is a little iffy so thought I would get a new one. Whilst at it I will need to get some new eyelets so just wondered what size and colour were the preferred choice?
Sizes in the poll are general so please post a reply if you wish to elaborate on anything. Also, sizes are the hole size. Application, general banners 9×3 feet for example.

Recommended places to get decent quality dies/eyelets as to avoid ‘chinese chuckaway’ ?
Or do you find even a cheap chinese matching die/eyelet purchase does the job?
Does shopping somewhere like Hanolex justify such a great price difference?

    Kind regards,

    Jon

Just bought a bag of eyelets a couple of weeks ago, and received an eyelet press… kinda thought they were a bit pricey! 😀

We have always used 13mm brass eyelets. but "i think" we have been forced down to 11mm and had to buy another press too… we could get larger but easier for the 11mm. anyway, i prefer the brass 13mm as they look a bit heavier duty.

    Thanks guys.
Normally the other way round isn’t Rob 😀

Looks like an even spread on the poll so far.

I was using 13mm chrome ones but needing a new die, have just tried some from Hanolex so will see what they are like. I have noticed on the specs though, that their 11mm eyelets have a total diameter of just over 25mm. My previous 13mm ones had 24mm. So a little more ‘grab’ from the eyelet can surely only be a good thing..
Not received yet so will see how their quality compares to my previous ones.

We get our eyelets from DTP Supplies. I am fairly sure they’re 13mm, and I know they’re Brass.

Received my order today from hanolex and the difference in quality in the eyelets and dies compared to my previous ones are night n day! Had to keep double checking as I thought I had two washers stuck together 🙂
Pressing felt a lot easier and more uniform.

I’ve always used 12mm clear plastic eyelets in a manual press. Clear plastic seems to be good for pretty much anything. Got them both from mediatech if that helps
