    What version is it Brian?

Sounds like something is corrupt, maybe re installing will be in only solution. 😮

You lost me a bit there mate…

When you install signlab it copies them into a fonts directory…

on 4.95 I think it was something like C:\signlab\fonts

When you copy a font to your computer you have to install the font via File & Install Fonts in Signlab. If you install the program it does this automatically anyway.

Are you saying it’s changing the font from the one it was designed in? Does it come up with a message saying xxx font is not on your system?

How do you mean not directly from the disk?

Are you saying you can’t copy the font from the cd to the hard drive? Why not what happens when you try?

Or if you can is it listed when you search for VEF font’s in the font installer?

sorry to but in, but if you just had a problem with the computer, have you upgraded the op system? if you have it may not be compatable with 4.95?

Ive seen that problem befor many times in sl495. The WFN fonts that you are trying to use maybe corrupted somehow. If you installed the WFN fonts to the harddrive, is suspect you will find that some are 0 Bytes in length. Find what folder you installed them to, (search for *.wfn) and delete any that are 0 bytes.
If you reinstall the fonts, then recheck for any that are 0 bytes.
Try to get a Font CD and manually copy them to the harddrive

    hope this helps.

    Thanks Frank a million!!!!!!!!

it seems to have solved the problem ……could this have happened if ive accidently installed a font thats already in the system?…theres some VEF fonts with the same problem i take it i just type in *.VEF

    Regards Brian 😀 😀 😀

I cant say i ever saw the problem with VEF fonts , but yes, any font that is 0 bytes in length is corrupt and must be deleted.

I only ever saw the problem with WFN font in Signlab 3.2 and 4.95
People would go to File/Install fonts, select WFN and for whatever reason, it would install the fonts to the harddrive but they where 0 bytes in length.

I used to get end users to copy/paste them Off of the CD onto the harddrive, or just email them a zip file with all the uncompressed wfn fonts.

Never saw the problem with VEF fonts.

andrew runs his comp with all fonts etc installed but me being old hat ive never got round to it and always run it off my signlab fonts CD.

frank, was there a major reason why coroporate logos were dropped from the fonts & clipart disk?

also, i used to have (many moons ago) signlab vehicle outline library. again, never saw/heard of it again.

i know why its not used these days, but remember a batch of floppy disks to load signlab… how we progress eh?

just some blasts from the past there… trip down memory lane. :lol1: 😉

Create a folder on your desktop, name it fonts, add fonts/clipart to folder when signab asks for fonts/clipart direct it here, problem solved.

oh well, glad you got it sorted , but i would make copys of your signlab disks though for back up, just incase the originals get corrupted !! 😀
and only use the copys and keep originals in a safe place!! 😛 if i’m passing your way i’ll pop in!! 😛

Id try to get a hold of a 4.95 CD if possible and a Font CD.
Or burn a set of good floppies to a CD.

If you can get the WFN fonts to install without being 0 bytes, find what directory they are in and Zip them up and burn them to a CD.
The same with the VEF fonts if you install them to the harddrive.
That way you dont have to worry about the Install Font problem.

I also remember the “unabe to calculate priter scale problem”
As i recall we had users edit the Signlab2.ini file with notepad and Delete
the Printer Configuration section, then restart Signlab.
This is going back about 8+ years.

    Robert.
I think the Logos where droped for legal reasons but dont know for sure.
