    Hi

I have been asked by a friend who is wanting to make pvc clothing.

While she is a good designer she has no skill in manufacturing.

She has asked me thinking we use pvc for banners, I have said it is a different sort LOL

She can sew or glue, but wants other options.

I have said you can weld it, having seen banner machines. I know it wont be the same machines, but close to the same way…. heat/electric etc.

    Has anyone got any ideas/suggestions

A solvent weld PVC adhesive is ideal for this. It’s used by plumbers to join plastic piping together. The solvent dissolves the PVC and allows it to weld to another piece of PVC so the end joint is not a conventional glue joint but an actual weld in which the two components are actually joined as one and not reliant on a glue to bond the two components

Loads of companies sell this type of "glue" e.g

I have used cyanoacrylate (super-glue) with some success, on pvc banner material, but only ever for indoor applications. there is of course double sided banner tape but it’s very thick.
Leister hot air welders are quite expensive and in my expeience quite tricky to use on anywhere other that straight line welds.

    Thank you for the replys.

We have a bag sealer, used to seal decals in layflat tubing, Its only 10 inch long so would not work,

Is there anything similar she could use? I have tried google and you tube.

All I could find is people making welders out of microwaves LOL looks dangerous to me

I think that your bag sealer is called a resistance welder and that would be a low power version of the same kind of machine that is used for PVC banners and fabricating PVC Ring binders.
