The monitor on my desk was sharing a plug socket with the printer,
i was adjusting the monitor and the back of the monitor pushed the duel socket to the side bang 😮 the fuse blew in the plug on the monitor ,changed this but the monitor has died any suggestions
it is a iiyama pro 454
could it be the monitor lead! i took the cover off the fuse in here is OK.

My background as a computer technician Derek…. Buy a new monitor.

The fuse should be a ‘slow blow’ so they tolerate power spikes. If it blew, it is evidence of a bigger problem. Could be a dry solder joint, a voltage IC or a flyback transformer.

With the cost of monitors now, it will be cheaper to replace it and get a full warranty.

Was there an acrid smell? look for a burnt part on the pcb, Unplug it tho before you start playing. 😮

    Cheers

    Hi Derek,
I’ve got a very old 14" monitor lying in the depths of my unit, your welcome to have it. Its useable until you have the time to get a new one. I’m open today – give me a buzz if you want it.

    Cheers John

Stay indoors today Derek and you’ll be OK.

Ohh yeah, be very careful fiddling about inside a monitor or TV even with the power disconnected. It can still bite.

That is true Lance. Forgive me Derek, I should have clarified that. Give you a nasty jolt if the FBT or tube is still charged. Wouldn’t kill you tho, unless you had a pacemaker…. weak heart….. hypertension…..hhmm… perhaps you should just stand clear of the monitor, and go back to bed 😉 Lance may be right….
