Its one of the reasons the boards are so good, and well worth the subs.

people can be very generous on here, and are alway willing to help, be you just starting out, or a sign expert. we can all learn from the input of others. Although Richard benefits directly from the input, so do a lot of others. just by seeing other peoples slant on a design.

as you say above its truly rubbish i have had help with designs yes thats true but i try to get ideas as well not just copy them

Rich you are a big enough man to let this pass you by, those of us who know you well appreciate your input and output and lets face it , if you or any one asks for help we all look at them comment or maybe not, but every time you see someone elses design there is always something you think "why didn’t I think of that " thats why this is such a good community.

no disrespect mate, but this is the type of post that would have been edited/binned right away if i had spotted it. posts made in this fashion do nothing for the site, the person its meant for or the visitors reading it. in fact it can only intimidate others from using this facility.
Richard is hardly here on a free ride mate. he pays for his UKSG membership each year and is seen as a regular on the boards, if not helping, then joining in with the banter…
i personally would like to encourage folk to use resources like this.
at the end of the day, when a post is made… nobody "has" to help, we just do if and when we can. 😀

I would just like to add that as Richard said he did not just come and ask everyone to design something for him… He had done a design and just wanted a few fresh ideas.
I have had lots of help with designs from here but always put my design up first. My current business card design was pretty much taken from a design that Jill did.. not a total copy but I used a lot of her ideas. One of the reasons I enjoy using the boards so much is that I like to see other peoples ideas. I may not always like other peoples work but I think that all too often we get stuck in a one style groove and that is why I look on here to keep my work varied.

As Rob said no one has to help with a design but more often than not they will, negative comments will stop people posting their designs and work then the site will become stagnated like some other sign sites where no one seems to want to post anything.

sorry for ranting but had to get it off my chest…

I have to be honest Rich, I did read Dave T’s post and thought nothing more of it.

Probably coz I know you are not like that, and I assumed dave was just giving you a bit of stick.

As peter says tho, we all learn from the likes of Leigh, Stevo, Andrew, Jill and all the others. I am always sleeping when you guys seem to do these designs, so I rarely get to contribute.

I agree with Lynn too, so many times I look at what others come up with and think ‘what a good idea’.

I know it must have stuck a nerve mate, but anyone that is a regular here knows the deal, and knows that you are the first to put your hand up if you can assist. You have helped me in the past, and I look forward to your help in the future.

I’d like to think that Dave T was trying to inject a bit of humour, and I be happy to give him the benefit of doubt, but I understand your rage at such a suggestion too.

When I first joined a few years ago, several members around then jumped on me for just about everything I suggested. They were openly critical of any help I offered, and I was getting discouraged.

With Robs encouragement I hung around. I’m still here, and they are not.

End of the day, we only ask for and expect constructive critical comment, but I have had my feable attempts at humour misconstrued on more than one occassion. I’d like to think that Dave T had one of those experiences too.

Well said rob, rich, ian and shane. This whole forum has been nothing but help to me since the day i came on here. Cant say a bad word against any one of them.

I cant thank the people enough in the past who have helped me out of a crisis. When it comes to advice this is the place to ask for it.

All i can do is aspire to what most of the members are doing these days.
