depends really onthe application of the refelective.

    whats it going onto?
    what type of reflective?
    what size is the text/panels?
    where is it being fitted?

    Hi Dtg,

if there is much weeding to do be careful! i have two ladies Rose & Sally that weed like lightening but when it comes to lettering on reflective it is easily 3 to 20 times longer and they are weeding full time (other than giving me verbals & making tea).

as a general rule i go with the double rule + taping + if excessive lettering or intricate £10 on top to cover labor. if you don’t you may well be running at a loss!

    to give you an example that i can give exact costs on: we had a run of 50 warning signs wanted that were to be supplied to exact customer spec, that being;

    5mm foamex 300mm wide x 250mm high.
    background reflective yellow.
10 lines of 9mm lettering in red reflective.

each sign took 32 minutes (averaged over whole job divided by 50) to weed alone.
cutting signs took 1.43 minutes (averaged over whole job divided by 50) although i must admit we use a huge paper guillotine for this accurate as fell and fast as you can load it cuts!
yellow reflective on to signs 4.24 minutes. we roll on at 610mm wide then guillotine up.
final taping applying lettering 1.17 minutes.

we charged £18.48 per sign + Vodka & Tonic for Brown.

my point; my ladies would weed “standard” vinyl of that size in less than 45 seconds.. it took them 32 minutes and remember thetas the average time so imagine what the first ones took! Also remember we do a heck of a lot of reflective/foils so both are not novices!

    Regards,

    Johnboy

Have to agree with Johnboy, takes longer to weed reflective than standard vinyl, plus you also have the extra cost of cutter blades as you won’t get anything like the same amount of cutting done before the blades need replacing. I keep a blade seperate especially for cutting reflective.
