  • WHAT DO YOU USE FOR CLEANING THE PRINT HEAD?

I’ve had to call on you guys again!….due to spandex being as helpfull as ever!!(rolls eyes)!! i’ll be honest, i’ve never dealt with a company that doesn’t seem to give two hoots about responding to emails, no call back, techs not calling back with important info/fixes for problems….. will be going to roland for my next purchase. anyways…i called spandex/gerber to ask about cleaning the print head on my edge fx. i had aload of alcohol wipes which was something like 96-98 percent alcohol if i remember correctly. i have since run out and wanted to buy more. of course nobody seems to want to know at spandex, i have phoned 3 different signage suppliers to get some, nobody has anything like that. so, the manager at my supplier suggested going to the pharmacy and getting some pure alcohol. not the denture kind though. will the 91 percent rubbing alcohol work? as that’s the only one they have(apart from a 70 percent one).

you can buy isopropanol alcohol from print one in liquid form, don’t know about wipes though, and I imagine would be more cost effective than your local chemist. we used to buy the wipes from spandex when we had an edge I think they worked out about 50p each 🙄

thanks lynn. yeah, spandex though either keep me on hold or nobody answers when you get through to the right dept! i’ve emailed them 3 times now over 1 week and still had no replies! would the 91 percent rubbing alcohol be ok? as i have seen that in the chemist and that seems to be the only alcohol related products they carry.

Matt I don’t know the answer to that, but you can buy pure alcohol from a chemist (it has to be dispensed though) not sure if it’s the same as rubbing alcohol though.

    Matt,

Don’t use the 91% alcohol, it has too much water content and will damage the printhead.

As Peter said, PrintOne do a 99% one (I have it), or otherwise order part number P66530B from Spandex, they are the correct cleaning cards for the Edge.
