  • what do you think of my new work premises?

Posted by Phill Fenton on June 2, 2008 at 6:44 pm

After literally 8 months of planning, we have finally moved into our new premises.

We finished up on Friday in the old place – Hired a Luton Van Saturday and along with a number of keen volunteers packed up and moved the lot over to the new place in one day. Alison and I then spent yesterday restoring some semblance of order so we could be up and running back in business today.

I was very pleased how well it all went. Our telephone number was transferred to the new unit so we haven’t had to change our number which was a big bonus. Our printer and cutter also survived the move and have been up and running producing work again today.

The only fly in the ointment was our broadband connection never got transferred so I am stuck with using a dial up connection at work until this gets done. However, that didn’t stop me from dispensing some of my incredible wit and sarcasm on these boards over the last 48 hours

Needless to day I spent all day today looking for things. Everything was in boxes. I even managed to loose my glasses – put them down somewhere and never found them again. Luckily I had an old pair lying in my desk drawer which I was able to wear to drive home again this evening.

    Here’s some pictures

Seriously, the broadband deal should have been done at the same time, I know Eclipse provide this service when we move the BT line, they basically pull the wire at the exchange and put it in another wire.

If this didn’t happen, then Cancel and Resubscribe (but you may find the last owner may have their broadband on the line) and its all telephone number based … FUN AND GAMES!!!

have you paid for post re-direct fees?

    Hi Phil,
that’s a very nice unit. You’ll be bursting at seams in no time. Are you still in the same area?

    Cheers
    Ewan.

It’s only a couple of miles from our old place and much easier to find. We put signs up at the old place with directions to the new unit and had a number of people turn up today having found us ok – so that was re-assuring.

The Broadband connection is AOLs fault. We have always used AOL and they told us that when we moved to the new place the broadband connection should automatically work seeing as we were transferring our phone number and were served by the same telephone exchange. Only when I discovered the Broadband connection wasn’t working as expected did I subsequently discover that they needed to transfer the broadband to the new address which could take up to 20 days 😕

We have much more space in the new unit and have plans to set it out in such a way as to better meet our customers needs. It’s all going to take time to get everything organised and the way we want it but I am very excited at the prospect of pulling it all together the way we want it
