    I don’t think x3 is available on a mac…

I run Flexisign on a G4 and want to upgrade to G5 but i don’t think flexi will run on OS X 10.4 so I have a few issues.

I’ve always had macs for signwork starting with a Quadra many moons ago, and even our home is mac’ed up.

Also run Illustrator CS and photoshop on them which is ideal for designing.

Going to get an Applebook Pro soon to work on at home when I’m under pressure….!

I have a PC for accounts and for Omega to run the Gerber FX and Corel which I don’t use very often.

The last version of Corel Draw to work on a Mac was 11. They have dropped it now. It will have to be illustrator for vector stuff on a Mac. There are a few vinyl cutting plug-ins for illustrator.

If you get a new mac now it will run windows so you can design in Mac and export file and use PC for cutting, printing

doesn’t depend on what you are used to use. we are creatures of habits, usually bad once 🙂

I think the myth that Mac’s are better for design or arty farty works is an old myth…they were the first to offer a GUI and many people who came from the pre-digital age, were then having to use and learn Mac/Apple Mac back then. This has since stayed with the industry, but many, have left that camp as the Mac’s was and is very expensive (I am not saying they are not worth it) but this contributed to many people leaving, I am sure we all have different reasons for not using them anymore.

Mac’s are really nice and sexier looking then PC’s but can anyone tell on your design that it was made with a Mac or PC ?

PC or Mac – it depends on your taste, you can’t go wrong with either unless you have current software or hardware that is not compatible with one or the other.

    good luck

PS: yes, I use PC and windoze and have used Mac’s in the past and would use them again if you gave me one, but currently I have no need to change and can’t see any in the near to distant future, likewise I can’t see any reason for a Mac user to switch!!! 🙂 (:)

For me, it boils down to cost… i’ve been a graphic designer for 10 years and always used mac’s at work, and they are better… but they’re not worth 5 times the cost of a trusty old PC!!!
They used to be way better for colour representation and remain industry standard for graphics… but they aint THAT much better – and they’re a BAD rip-off… but I would still rather be using one!

I use both. I prefer my Mac, but Photoshop will not work 100% with Apples new OS (Leopard)

I’ve got an Apple G3 that needs attention. Just freezes when you turn it on.
I could do with finding someone to get it work ok.

I was just reading up on this the other day and found out that you can in fact run Corel on your mac. You just need to run it either in MAC’s Parallel Desktop or in Bootcamp. From what I have read running Windows under Parallels Desktop for MAC is the best choice. Apparently it just runs a whole lot smoother. If you do a search on google there are a lot of articles out there on the subject. Hope that makes sense.
