What is the vehicle? Is it Emergency services or a private business? It does matter because there are regulations regarding the use of chevron, reflectives etc. Tell us as much as you know and I may be able to post a few tips.

    Big G
The firm is a private coach company with one hand painted tow truck which needs a reflective stripe on the front and down the sides. Also they have two roadside assist vans (Citroen C15D’s and very old) which need chevrons on the rear doors. I do use Grafityp but they don’t seem to do the really high vis reflective.
I hope this makes it clearer.

When you say hi viz reflective, are you talking about Diamond grade, Reflexite etc, what are referred to as high conspicuity? If so, there are (at least the last time I read the regs) some restrictions on the use of these for non emergency service vehicles. For example I don’t think you can use the fluorescent yellow unless it is for the old bill etc. If you are in any doubt the fleet manager at your local Police headquarters will be able to confirm this. Unlike most customers, they do know what’s what with regards vehicle livery of this nature. Can I assume that you are aware of the colours allowed on the front, side an rear of vehicles when using reflectives? If you want any tips on the best way to manufacture the rear chevrons (which can be a bit awkward) let me know and I’ll try to help. (I’ve done a LOT of these)

We have done a number of recovery vehicles and they insisted on diamond grade flourescent yellow stripes down the side. Their argument is they have to be conspicuous and will do whatever it takes.
I can’t find the suppliers name but it wasn’t one of the big ones. I can try Monday if you wish

    Many thanks

I know this “rule” can be bent somewhat. For example, a mate of mine puts up those signs that appear after a serious road accident and the old bill allow him to have virtually a Police regulations livery on his van due to the danger of the places he has to park.

Anyway Peter, you may want to find out the budget of your customer. When they hear the cost of something like Diamond Grade they’ll probably faint! It is however, the business when it comes to visibility compared to engineering grade reflective.
