What colour/brand matt grey vinyl is this?
Posted by Chris Foster on May 22, 2012 at 9:42 amHi all,
I have a customer that would like his car wrapped in either of the 2 matt greys below. I have managed to track down the owner of the older focus who advises it was 3M vinyl used for his one but need to try and find the correct colour of the other focus… Could it be the same colour but because of the light / angle it looks slightly different?
Thanks!

Hi Chris
Finish looks Matt so if your customer is right and it was 3M then it should be from the 1080 Car Wrap range
3M only have 3 x Matt Silvers/Greys in this range 1080-M261 Matt Dark Grey, 1080-M230 Matt Grey Aluminium and 1080-M21 Matt Silver
Impossible to tell if these match by the photos but if you contact our sales office with your details they can get you a physical swatch out in the post tonight so you can check against the vehicles

Hi Stuart,
thanks for the message, i’ve got the swatches at home but still hard to tell as the 2 greys in the pics look different!! I think its matt dark grey but not 100%. I believe that Totally Dynamic wrapped the newer focus so may message them and see if they can advise!

Ive managed to track down the fitters of the mk2 focus and it turns out they print the colour onto vinyl then apply so unbranded :S, never heard of that before!!!
Explained to the customer and they have now chosen the 3M matt dark grey metallic!
Definitely a very good job on both though, the older focus was a doors off jobbie apparantly!

Never heard that before either, but regardless. they need to use a digital wrap film and laminate to do the job. So what did they use?
I could be wrong, but Personally think they are at it…
why would they go to the added expence and preparation printing and laminating when they will get a better finish with a solid colour wrap?
I know we are talking slight shade colour difference here, but still… -
Thats exactly what I thought, they are a very big company but surely doing it their way wouldnt be as cost effective as buying from the likes of 3M or Hexis etc….
This was part of hte mail i received from them…

Many thanks for your enquiry. The vehicle in question is actually sporting one of our own colour-matched printed wraps, which we do not sell to third parties.
