  • what can i do with a lightbox 25m long?

I have a customer who has a 25 metre by 900mm lightbox in place and he want a new sign fitting in it.

He’s after a red background with a 2 colour text.
I was going to get the opal routed, so that the panels overlap and then flood it in red with the text cut out accordingly, the box lights up red and the text lights up ivory.
I’m worried that when sliding the panels into the box the vinyl will rip. Is there a way round this?

It shouldn’t do. the panels should be hung from the top, and have a mil or two clearance from the frame, I always run a file over the corner edges of the frame so that there are no sharp edges.

Also, if you take the first retaining screw out of the frame trim and pull it out a bit, it opens it up a bit for you to slide the panels in without the sharp end touching them. Depending on the type of section the box is made of you can remove the trim completely (top only), front load the panel and then fix the trim back on.

Does any of that make sense? Easier to do than to explain.

I spray the panels hanging strip and lower edge with app fluid before sliding them in that helps too
