  • what can i do with a ford fiesta van?

Posted by Marcella Ross on February 1, 2007 at 11:39 pm

I have a customer who has a new Fiesta van, in white. He’s asked me to come up with a design which has his van looking dirty with a squeegee cleaning a broad stripe down it with his name etc in the ‘clean’ area. Now what he doesn’t want is a wrap ……….. he wants to keep the cost down to a minimum 😕
So now I’m stumped ………….. any ideas on how I can create that type of look without covering the whole van?
My initial thought was to use a broad strip of reflective white ……… but wouldn’t be very noticeable in daylight though 😕

    any ideas much appreciated 😀

i have seen some windscreen vans with the rear covered in a Grey with a area like a wiper cut out a sweeping arc with text in it very neat.

pretend the van is red or blue underneath and tell him not to wash it.

You are going to have a real problem with the sides if he is wanting something on the side as there is hardly any room to start with, Chris’s idea with a light Grey with an area cut out for the text might look pretty good and you may be able to include a sort of starburst like the one Phill has on his van.

How about using some etched vinyl – depending on the type / supplier you can get some that have just a hint of grey / bronze in them to maybe look like dirt when overlaid on a panel…with a swoosh & starburst in the ‘clean’ cut-out section.

what about a patch of digy print with a fade from dirty to clean either side of the swipe so you wouldn’t need to do the whole surface

maybe a dirty splat with a clean swipe through it? or dirty splats…you could do spots of spatted mud all over van going from small to larger one where then it is wiped

maybe on the back a squeegee at an angle with a hand leaving a curved swoosh [as if it’s just swiped an area] that area would have a digital print area [bleeding off the top]showing a nice clean country scape [plenty of sky] and then a tag line….. (!) 😀 😀 😀

yeah a nice blue sky ……. beach ……. island on the horizon and a tag line saying
‘Swing yourself over to Little Cumbrae we love getting dirty!’

    :lol1:

sorry …………. couldn’t resist …………….. I like the idea tho 😀 (of the van that is!)

A bugger to do and weed but how about doing a panel in little dark grey circles for the dirty bit and have the squeegie design running through them, if you can picture what I mean.

Nigel ………….. I tried that earlier on today!!!!!! 😀 But I can’t find a ‘nice’ squeegee ……….. my squeegee was naff 😕 Overall it looked not too bad, if I can get a decent bit of clipart then it would make it look much better. 😀

where have you been hiding anyway? 😉

Not hiding, I just observe and jump in (both feet usually) when needed.

Can you give me some idea of what you tried, I might be able to help you out with the clipart then, well come Monday I might.

Post it here or e-mither me 😀

My daughter has been asking me to change it because I look ugly there!!!!! She says it looks nothing like me. :lol1:

I’ve only got very ‘cartoony’ type clipart of squeegees, nothing that looks very good. But I’ll have another search tomorrow and see if I find anything better.

Kids, bleh what do they know lol

Your pic reminds me of a leading actress from the 40’s – 50’s era, when women looked like women 😉

Can you give me an example of the "squeegie effect" you are after ?

Marcella, couldn’t you just draw a squeegee? Don’t know what sort of effect you want from it but it is not going to be the main focus is it as the clean area is what you want people to focus on.

As for your daughter you should be happy she is showing such an interest or is it more a case of her feeling embarrassed by the other picture?

Kids eh !!! Who would have ’em !!!!

Marcella, when you say he wants to keep the price down to a minimum has he given you any clue as to what he is prepared to spend? Just thinking that if he really does want it done cheap then any form of printing is probably going to be out of the question.
How much detail does he want in the clean bit?

they be expecting you to accept small change marcella

well, probably around £175 or so tops. So no digi prints on there then!!!!!
Not a lot of info just company name ( CSS) and number.

If I can get a good squeegee I’ll go for the dots of dirt covering an area with the squeegee wiping them clean ………. I think :lol1: h right now I don’t care…. it’s friday and I’m having a drink with Martin!!!! 😀

    marcella,

hows about this idea from good old istock, its a vector also, maybe you can ungroup and use most of it. i put in the search term "window clean" and it was one of the first to come up.

    hope this helps.

sorry it aint a vector, must be too early in the morning for me!

however maybe buying the image and running a trace programme might come up with a decent result.

    cheers

heres another, this is a vector, so you def ungroup all this and take out maybe the squudgee etc if you fancy.

again its on istock under the search "wipe window" and narrow the search to illustrations only, cheap as chips to buy.

    cheers

that’s most likely the kind of thing he’s after since he’s not for forking out for printed material.
