what can i do about a gripping problem with my router?
Hi,
We’re just nearing completion of our 3m x 2m router and the question of clamping the material has risen its ugly head 👿 On our smaller routers we either clamp of use self adhesive tape with both work great.
So the question is what does everyone else do and what are the benefits and downsides to the methods you use?
As I see it my options are as follows…
1. Screw/self adhesive tape to the table.
2. Tee slotted table and clamps.
3. Porous spoilboard and big vacuum pump
4. vacuum pods/gasket system and smaller vacuum pump.
5. Something else i’ve not tought of!!What does everyone else think?

i use a vaccum punp suction table.. our router is only 1 metre x 1 metre though.
when doing something small i use a double sided tape..
if im edging mahogany or beach etc i screw a sort of wooden jig to the table to stop it moving.. just incase. 😀 -
my table is 8×4 and i use carpet double sided tape (i buy in bulk)
stick it to the protective covering on foam, perspex etc and just cut away
you get some glue on the bit but a quick clean with glue remover on the letters and bit afterwards does not take long. We also use a jig method on timber, our 3ft x 2ft cnc engraver we have a t slot system, also if you use a v bit on letters the down force keeps the letters in place. -
always used t bars and clamped the material on, although the vac bed comes in handy when youre cutting out small stuff
