Posted by Lorraine Clinch on November 19, 2005 at 11:31 pm

I’m at work. (My other job, not sign making.) it’s the only opportunity I get to go online after I’ve left the shop.

    What’s everyone else up to?

Hmmmm. Beer. Or wine. Bed. Sleep.

    Roll on Sunday pm.

BTW, how soon after waking up after a night shift do you reckon it’s reasonable to wait before going to the pub for a few bevvies?

Cos I wouldn’t wake up at 7am and be in the pub by 9am! But I may well be awake by 12.00 and be in the pub for 2pm! 😎

I take my hat of to you Lorraine. Always have an admiration for people who work behind the scenes like that.

Are you in a small community? We don’t have community nurses anymore, except way out in the bush. The closest we have here is the Blue Nurses, who are from the uniting church I think. They do a great job with terminally ill and hospice care and what not, they were on call when my uncle was on his last legs late at night. Very caring people. Called the Dr, and she called the Blue Nurses to sit with my Auntie until she could get there.

last time I was in a pub was when I was 18. I’m 45 now, so probably not the right person to ask :lol1:

    Hugh, you gotta be mad!

Had to defrost the car at 6am, that was bad enough, let alone being out in it voluntarily. At least I was getting paid to be out! 😕

Shane, we cover a fairly large rural area-it would probably take about 1-1/2 hours to get from one end to the other (I know thats not large on Aussie terms) but enough if someone needs us at either end of the area. 🙁
There is only 1 car (a trained nurse and assistant) for the whole area at night.

It sounds like your Blue Nurses are similar to our ‘Hospice at Home’ carers, who sit with terminally ill people to let there family have some sleep or a break. We get called for any job which requires a nurse and wont wait till the morning. I have to say, I love it. We never know what’s going to come through.

despite the cold, it was a lovely nght, 3/4 full moon, crystal clear night, mon was so bright that the only dark bits were our shadows !

car wasnt icy cos we’d been in it recently ! roads were abit iffy though,

catch owt ? nothing worth eating ! sea was too calm really, dead flat to be honest, just a few tiddlers, my 12yr old outfished me 5 to 1 (hot) and after i was considerate enough to bait his hooks and cast his rods to save him getting cold hands ! i prfer the weather to be blowing a bit of a hoolie, stirs up the bottom and gets the bigger fish into feed !

was gonna go agai tonight but figured a nice night in infront of the fire with the mrs sounded a good option !

It’s shot just over the border from where I am near a place called Murwillumbah (run and get a map) where they have built a huge secure lot. Mucho securityo.

They ship the techies in from the UK (I know that ‘cos I know 1/2 of them) and we don’t get to see the series they are shooting now for a year or so I think. Not that I would watch it anyway, so I might be talking out of my bahoonie. 😀

I watched Im a celeb last night and thought it was really funny. I loved the way carol Thatcher landed from her parachute jump, got up and walked away like she’d just been shopping at Tescos :lol1: Typical gung ho and stiff upper lip attitude :lol1:

  • Marcella Ross

I watched it last night too. Typical working class british public though that immediately put Carol Thatcher and Jilly Goolden up for the task, the two ‘poshest’ in there. Although Carol Thatcher can’t be that upper crust, did you see her squat for a pee in the camp!!! 😀 Jimmy Osmond is a bit weird, and her from Eastenders that fainted…… get her out, what a moan she is I can’t imagine her being entertaining.
I’ll get hooked on this, I usually do, but very often the people who are best to watched get voted out quick which is a shame.

Looks like I’ll have to watch it now at least once, haven’t seen it before. Confess to watching the X factor on Saturday though, mainy just to have a laugh at my hubby ranting at the telly over Chico still being in the competition. Apart from that the very cold weekend was spent in front of a log fire up to my eyes in glue doing Blue Peter things for a local craft fayre next week (should be fun considering my French language skills). 😀

Watched a little bit of Im a Celebrity. I must admit to actually now watching the x-factor :lol1: Shane is rather good …. very nice … very very nice and Andy … wow what a voice that guy has …. did I mention Shane though ??? :lol1:

    😛

You like Shane then Carrie? 😉 well he is a bit tasty, superb voice, I reckon he’s the winner (at least I hope things dont go haywire and Chico gets it).

Shane and Andy get my vote. Shane is superb, he has an all round appeal for me, great voice, great looks, he very much looks like a star … well to me anyway.

Chico …. crikey I am suprised he’s still in ….. he would have a market though … bit like the Cheeky Girls :lol1:

I don’t know about Big G, but I am rather embarassed about all this attention 😳 😳 ….

As Simon says, we have it filmed just over the border in New South Wales. Considered a bit of a joke here last year with Peter Andre (alias ‘ I love me.. who do you love!’) because they make out they are way out in the sticks, and the main highway is spitting distance from the camp.

I am not sure that we are slotted for this show by all accounts, as so many of the contestants are unknown to us here. Simon would have a better idea of course coz that is is industry.

Probably not my sort of show anyway. Big Brother.. all that sort of stuff does not get my attention these days. I watch Australian Idol every week or so, just so I know what the rest of the family are talking about over tea, but that is about it. Pretty boring life really 🙁

X Factor?… hhhmmm… one of the judges on X factor and Idol is Mark ‘throw me a carnation’ Holden. I am not a violent man, but he drives me to distraction…. 👿

Carrie – Shane is good but I can’t see what all the fuss is about, he’s hardly drop dead gorgeous….. he’s a good singer though, maybe I’m just getting old. As for Andy…… well…… different kettle of fish, what a chanter he is!! Superb smokey, smooth, velvety chocolatey voice….mmmm! Now Chico, he’s in a different league, perhaps even a different planet! But he does make my night cos I watch him and laugh my head off, he can’t sing a note but he’s Mr Entertainment for all the wrong reasons!!! 😀
Get the Conways out I say!

Shayne for me just has a bit of a …. ooooh factor … no I dont think he’s drop dead gorgeous, to me I just think he has star quality … the all round thing to take him further in a career being famous. Crikey Im no big fan … just kind of like the way he sings and moves …… 😛 To me he would have the biggest appeal as a singer for my age … crikey Im digging deeper here :lol1:

In my opinion Brenda is the only one who has looked like a complete proffesional singer from the start.
She has a voice that will out perform any of them

She does need to do a different style of song tho
Mabe a Whitney she has the voice for it I’m sure.

Having said that, did anyone see todays newpaper headline that read “Gary Glitter Faces death by Firing Squad”.

It would be funny if it wasn’t so tragic 😕 😥
