We had a Uniform Cadet solvent signprinter installed on thursday by B & P.
First impressions have blown us away.
Printing onto standard 651 vinyl we’ve managed small labels and some huge photos, everything is excellent.
The smell of the solvents is not a problem, certainly no worse than the smell of the operator!
We’re the first to have a go at any suppliers who don’t come up to scratch, but we have to say that the installation and training by B & P’s Jason was also first rate.
We’ll report more as soon as we start using the machine in anger, but so far so good.

yes we were watching to see what would happen with this machine alough it is versacamm that is badged from certain discussions i have had i have been told that BP have modified it to run on thier inks i have carried out robs rub test on samples and found them to be good.

A Quick note on the Rub test. After reading about how rob was testing printed vinyl as we were looking for a machine
I started to carry the test out on quite a few samples and was quite amazed at the number that failed. this really got up my nose as the machine we had set our eye on failed. After visiting a few resellers of the machine and showing them one salesmen who actually new what he was doing fell about laughing.
Off he went and came back with a few samples try these he said some failed but a few did not.
I think I Know what the problem is and he went on to say how quite a few people who sell these machines are quite lazy or in some cases dont now enough about them he explained that if they are not profiled for the correct vinyl then thier is a chance that the ink for any of a number of reasons does not (for want of a better discription) bite into the vinyl and sort of sits on the top. as he pointed out when salesmen are asked to give a sample as usual they are busy os just grab any old bit of material and shove it in hit print……. walla… look how easy it is 🙄
Just to prove the point he took thetime to print a few things in front of us with the correct profiles and some wrong ones. Made a hell of a difference in rub tests we found that the ones that were right were dam nigh bullet proof.
While we are on the subject make sure you do your homework on the rip that you will be using you will be alarmed at the quality difference.
and dont be fooled in to thinking that because your mate is getting great results on his setup that the same rip will give you the same result on a different make machine.
