    Hi guys,

I have had some trouble sticking a print to a board and wondered what I have done wrong.

I read on here somewhere that I should use wallpaper paste … but after carefully preparing the board and giving it a coat of oil based paint to seal the surface .. waiting 2 weeks for it to dry properly .. sanding the surface a little to smooth it, and cleaning it down carefully … then using the paste … the results have been terrible.

It seemed to go on ok, but next morning there were a couple of large bubbles .. 18 inches long by an inch wide. I smoothed them out carefully … but I’ve had heaps of smaller ones reappear.

I’ve worked most of them out, but there’s still a few that really detract from the job. 😕

The print is 2’ by 9’ on HP semigloss photopaper.

    Regards, Roger

    Hi Roger,
It sounds like the paste isn’t adhering to the oil based paint. I would try priming the surface with a pva solution it should give it something to grip onto.

If you have used wallpaper paste I am assuming it is for interior use. Personally I wouldn’t have used anything like that to start with, would have used a double sided mounting film like print mount.
