we recently moved areas and as were expanding the business we were invited along to a local BNI meeting. well, my wife recently quit her job to help with the business side of the business so she thought she would be the one to go.
so she looked around and found other business meetings in the area too. so, monday she went to 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening,Tuesday she went to one in the afternoon,Wednesday she went to one in the morning, today she went to one in the morning, one at lunch time, one at 4.30, a diff one at 6.30 then she has a mums group she starting going too at 7.45 pm, she has a lunch time meet up tomorrow for a different BNI group………. fair play, shes putting me to shame!! and shes already booked Monday for several other meetings!! their not all BNI meetings, their are several independent woman’s and business groups in the area too.

Is BNI like C of C?
I was roped into being the secretary of ours (Mars PA) and never got a single sign job.
I hate going to any kind of meeting and avoid them if at all possible, so I feel bad for your wife.
    Love….Jill

not sure what c of c is to be honest jill. she met a guy who has been involved in the local BNI for some years now and he told my wife that their are no sign business’ in the local BNI groups in our area and they are desperate for a sign business to join! so, bit of luck really!

    quote Matt Boyd:

that’s what they all say (networking groups) dont hold your breath, for work.
your wife may have better results if she called and then visited local companies. sounds like she is very enthusiastic.
As for husband and wife teams, we have been doing it for more than twenty years, and still love it,

she went to the BNI group in our area and they had no sign people their, that’s when she got asked to quote on 4 different jobs at the end of the meeting! i told her not to hold her breath that she just needs to put the word about that were here and what we do, hence shes going to as many meetings/groups as she can at the moment.
she is going to the local high street next week to show some samples of work and we found out from our local sign supply place that the only sign shop in our town does not do any prints, he only has a plotter so will give him a shout and see if we can’t maybe supply him with some prints when he is asked for them.

C of C= Chamber of Commerce.
    😀
There is some other networking group around here, can’t think of the name at the moment but the members remind me of the followers of David Koresh or Jim Jones! And they want to trade weird stuff for signs.

Golden Corral, all you can eat buffet.

Oooh don’t go to CiCi’s pizza.
I’ve actually never been to the Golden Corral, it’s too far away.
But I also hate Ponderosa and Bonanza, and Old Country Buffet too.
I don’t want to wade through food that everybody and their brother have picked through, sneezed upon, shed hairs etc.
    hahaha
Although I do like to watch the people going into and coming out of them.
My fave USA type restaurant is Cracker Barrel.
We are getting one near here soon.
They have the best kitschy gift shops.

BNI Has been without a doubt the best thing I’ve ever done for my business. there are a few here on the boards that seem to knock it but I’ll do close to 100k this year based on referrals from my chapter.

If you’re good at what you do, are willing to put some time and effort in to it and have some personality then you’ll do well.

Good on your wifey for taking the reins in the networking stuff mate.

Better buy her something nice and shiny 😉

😛 yeah, shes a good old stick fair play!! we’ve already got several orders for signage from last week when she went to the meetings, and she went around some of the local shops today and got another 2 orders so all in all really good. she gave out approx 150 business cards too the past 5-6 days from all the people and business’ shes met/been too.
i know some knock the BNI groups and as you say, its what you put into it by the looks of things….i guess you either like it or you don’t, and i suppose it helps if you have some decent people in your local group too!
