  • Web2Print Software Benefits, advice please?

Posted by Paul Stenning on December 6, 2019 at 9:31 am

Looking for a little guidance from anyone that may have any knowledge in this area, a search has pulled very little up.

A client of ours has told us they want us to offer a Web2Print service. All of the work we do for them is one offs, repeats are very rare.

Another of our customers who’s a litho printer who comes to us for wide format uses such a system says it’s possible but ultimately a bit pointless unless the orders are usually for standardised product such as letterheads, business cards etc.

They’re a good customer but I don’t want to have to invest in expensive software if it’s not going to make our life any easier.

    Can anyone offer an opinion?

    Thanks 🙂

What percentage of your business comes from this client? Is there any form of guarantee that they will continue to use you or how long they will require your services?

I would expect the web design with all the custom features to be incredibly expensive and may have have limitations as to how far you can go with customisations.

Thanks Luke. They’re about 10% of my turnover, but their probably my lowest margin customer as their quite price savvy.

I’m wondering if there’s something off the shelf (my litho customer uses Catfish by Infigo) rather than a bespoke built site, but the more I think about it I suspect they’d be expecting something like Solopress’ website where you upload the artwork, it generates a price and a proof and then they’re done. That’s way beyond my budget 🙁

They are fantastic all of these kind of website, but really are serious money…

If you felt it could help your client bring you more business and potentially be used for other or new clients, perhaps it could be worth looking at further.

But by the sounds of it, sounds like it may not be worth pursuing.

    I had this dilema Paul.
I wanted a Web to print site to make it an easy process to order stickers from.
I was quoted a price starting from £4k plus any other additions.
I created a page myself, for a fraction of that price, so customers can order different media, sizes, quantities and finishes etc.
I think serious investment in ad words would be needed to to get traffic.
More outlay and something I need to look into in more depth.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
