    Hi All

Does anybody use a wheelie bin to dispose of their wasted vinyl and tape etc? I am looking to get one (a big 330L one) which will be collected weekly which will free up a lot of space for me.

My concerns are all the vinyl offcuts and tape etc sticking to the inside of the bin causing hassles for the collection guys.

Anybody have any experience of this? I was thinking of spraying the inside with WD40 or something to stop it sticking 🙄 :lol1:

    cheers

No, Serco do it in our area and they offer the service.

Warren, I think you can get liners for those bins too. Its just a flimsy bit of plastic designed to keep the bin clean rather than being able to lift it all out with…………..

yeah a bag won’t work, I was just worried about it all sticking to the sides and not actually being able to come out easily and the bin men get annoyed or won’t empty it, or leave what ever doesn’t fall out etc.

I’ve ordered it now anyway so will see.

    cheers

i have a bigger 1300 bin never have a problem normal vinyl doesn’t grip to that plastic so a few sharp shakes on the lift & out it come. We compact ours down by jumping on the vinyl etc always comes out.

The council empty trade bins around here. They are in competition with the private companies.

We use 1100 litre bins and very occasionally the contents would stick, and the youngest of the bin men would have to clamber up to release it. They did it cheerfully enough though.

If you have something a bit weighty to dispose of, make sure that it goes in the bottom of the bin, and that will help force the vinyl and tape out.

Thanks guys, I’m just starting with the smaller bin but can upgrade if needed, pointless paying to empty half a bin every week 😉

    Thanks again

We use a smaller bin inside the unit with a bin liner. Once this is full it is put into the wheely bin, the bin liner prevents any possibility of vinyl sticking to the sides.

    Same here.

I found with liners that if you are weeding and squash up a ball of weeded vinyl and throw it in the bin it rips the liner as it sticks to it and the weight pulls it down and you can’t pack it up, yes for backing paper it’s fine but surely not sticky stuff 😕

Yup – we find that too – doesn’t stop us doing it though 😕

I kind of wrap a large enough piece of backing paper inside the liner and bin and through all the sticky stuff into the centre. Works well for me!
