    Hi there,

Is anyone using this Wasatch SoftRip? Any good with Epson Stylus Pro 10600? Also what rip would you recommend for a versacam 54″, is this wasatch SoftRip any good for it, as I will already use it with the epson 10600

    Thanks a lot.

Versacam comes with an extended version of softrip anyway (unless you go for the versaworks rip with tne new 540V or the colorchoice rip) Roland’s Colorip *is* the Wasatch RIP with some added features that softrip doesnt have. Problem is , it will NOT work with anything barring the roland machines. It is a very good RIP if you need a lot of control , and need the nth degree of colour matching etc. You can either use it “simply” or change just about every variable you can think of and then some.

Wasatch is a very good RIP for any large format printer, whilst historically it has not been well represented here in the UK, Wasatch and PosterShop pretty much dominate in the USA and many other international markets.

Also wanted to clear up a few misconceptions about print and cut software.

Have seen a few threads suggesting that Troop! V4 is a version of Flexisign, it’s actually a version of PhotoPrint from the same manufacturer as Flexisign, Scanvec-Amiable.

The PhotoPrint version of Troop has been discontinued and Troop V5 is now, and will continue to be, based on the Wasatch SoftRIP using the Jaws engine.

The Uniform Troop V5 SE that ships as standard with the 30″ Uniform CADET printer is a full blown, full feature version of Wasatch SoftRIP with the only limitation being it only supports printers up to 36″ width.

All new colour profiles created for Uniform printers will now only be for the V5 version.

The Roland ColorRip software is a ‘Lite’ version of Wasatch SoftRIP with cut down features.

As Rodney says, Roland have also released a new RIP that is now based on an Adobe postscript engine, and is no longer based on Wasatch.

I understand all this chopping and changing by both Uniform and Roland can lead to some confusion, so I stress again, Troop! V5 is now, and shall remain long-term, based on the Wasatch SoftRIP engine.

Hope this helps to clarify things.
