i have a freind of the family that has just been sent £1800 after they followed this up. they had been with the same bank for many years of course… apparently they will always settle out of court.

yes, they won’t go to court in case they lose because that would set a precedent. They will string it along hoping that you will give up the fight but by standing your ground and also having the law on your side will make them pay.
Not only can you claim the unlawful charges, but you can also claim the contractual interest on it too and can go back 5 years in Scotland or 6 years using the English legal system.
