Looking for some advice regarding the trimming of printed wallpaper.

I have to supply some printed wallpaper that will be fitted by a painter/decorator, ive got a sample of the coala decowalls material from Antalis which is a paste the wall first type but what I am unsure of is how to trim the prints.

The spec sheet says "no need for overlapping" but how do you guys trim when printed as I cant see any way of getting every single trim perfect in order they will butt together perfectly.

    Any help or advise appreciated

It would depend on how he intends fitting it Bob…..I would ask how he wants it supplied.

I have completed the Digimura wallpaper fitting course where they advocate a 50mm overlap. Then place a plastic cutting strip behind the wallpaper and cut both drops together on the wall giving a perfect join……..

It was a few years ago…….Did it with Andy Boyle at the Diimura/Muraspec premises on Dumbarton Raod in Glasgow…….no idea of the cost I’m afraid.

here is a link to a video which shows the cutting strip technique about 2.46 into it..

Very interested myself to hear how people trim these! I’ve had a couple of enquiries recently and also very keen to do a couple of my own walls! I am also very concerned that the trusty old Stanley and ruler won’t be accurate enough??

We recently printed a large amount of this for a trade client of our using UV printing. All panels were trimmed to the edge and provided in drops of 1200mm.

These were pasted to the wall using wallpaper glue and easy enough to move around to line joins up. The beauty if UV ink printing is you can be has tough and harsh as you want with the print when fitting as you know the ink will still be good and in place.

Material used was a digimura Brut.

Thanks for the replies, I think an overlap would be the answer as I cant see how on earth you can manually trim every print perfectly so that when butted together the joins are perfect.

Rob: seen this before on another post about wallpaper, going crosseyed reading them all to be honest.

    Thanks again all
