I’m not sure if that is a term used outside of North America. I’ve just returned from a Walldog meet in Danville, Illinois, USA. What a tremendous experience it was. It was my first time as a project leader. I was one of 15. The murals were historical in nature and the styles were varied. Almost 160 artists from as far away as New Zealand descended on Danville for a 4 day painting frenzy.
Here’s a couple of slide shows of the work that was done.
This slide show was prepared by Kelly Thorson…

This is our Engine House No.2 Project.

The weather was HOT, HOT, HOT, but all the murals got done and the city of Danville couldn’t be happier.

I was sorry to miss this meet.
The best I could do was add to their signpost forest!
Looks like the next one I’ll be attending is James Kelly’s in Ireland 2012.
You gonna try and make it Duncan?
It would be great to see you again.
You’d really love the folks there too.
Simon? You coming? I’ll bring you a Pittsburgh T shirt.
    Love….Jill

It would be a lot of fun! I’d definitely wear the Pittsburgh shirt. I’ve never been to Ireland, but would love to go. The last time I was in England was in 1996. The wife and I are actually wanting to go within the next 2 years if we can afford. It would be a really fun trip. I’ll bring you a Georgia Peach shirt if it happens. 🙂

I saw your panel in the sign forest Jill. It was a beaut. It had "Jilly" written all over it. That meet in Ireland sounds grand, we’ll see. The walldog meet next year is in Wisconsin.
Sorry I mucked up the linking Rob, my bad.

You’ve got some talented people out there Duncan.
Awesome murals, did Dan Sawatzky have a hand in one of those?
Thought I saw one on his blog.

Yes Neil, Dan did the Illinois Terminal Railroad mural. He also helped me finish up the lettering on mine. Do you know Dan?

Hi Duncan, no I’m not worthy enough to know such a talent.

I just follow his daily blog as I love the stuff he does, he’s got one hell of a crazy imagination.

Dan is truly a unique and extraordinary talent and to see him at work is humbling to say the least. No one on this earth has more passion for what they do. On the flip side he is a quiet and very down to earth man. His wife and kids and grandchild are his real passion. I hope you meet him some day. He’ll probably put a trowel, a brush, a mouse or a pointed stick in your hand and have you doing something you didn’t think you had in you.
For those that have never seen Dan’s work, just Google his name and see for yourself.
