Posted by Shawn Bentley on October 10, 2014 at 4:56 pm

hi all I’m trying to source the material that i need for walls art/ wall stickers decals etc,
I’m looking for the type that you can apply and peel of that leave no residue,
I’ve spoke to hexis and they don’t know it and search high and low on the net, I’ve found loads of people that sell the finished items but no material name or suppliers.
any help would be greatly appreciated. even a name of the material. i need the printable one if possible, and can it be printed with a large format epson style printer. many thanks in advance.

You’ll be lucky to find anything you can rely on if you are worried about it leaving a mark or peeling paint off the wall when removed. Nothing works as every wall is different. We’ve experimented with a few but won’t risk our reputation on anything out there that is vinyl based.

Most of them don’t care if it peels paint off the wall, it’s in their terms and conditions. The ones that actually work are not solvent based.

Sorry, I don’t, I’m not sure it exists. We’ve looked at the material companies use and it is generally Rirama or Oracal. None of which I would touch as it’s basically short term internal vinyl.

I have used some from Neschen, it works very well. self adhesive backed wallpaper.
when i say some, im meaning hundreds of metres without problems. still im no expert in any shape or form. but worked well for me.
you can buy it via Paperlinx…

    as for clean removal etc…
dont go there. as has been said, every wall is different.
unless its professionally painted walls using a primer/bonding coating then painted etc there’s a great chance it will lift paint in the removal process.

you can however get wall-art vinyl’s that come with an easy peel type adhesive on the rear that allows you to lift and lay multiple times till you get it on. kinda like a post-it adhesive on the rear. i know oracal do this range but you would need to ask if there is a digital print equivalent.

    Hi Shaun

Yes i buy ours via "Paperlinx" who have depots throughout the UK.
I am sorry but i do not know the product code etc (im hopeless with codes/series etc)
ill try dig it out Monday and post here. alternatively someone browsing the boards may know.

Just remembered i used a product similar by "Muraspec" from papergraphics mentioned above. that was a great product too but i hear they pulled it off the market due to some issues.

I think this is the stuff your looking for http://www.phototex.co.uk/ great product by hefty price.

I use one from APS called TSPP7SA it prints great on the latex printer but is a bitch to cut due to the backing sheet.

If you’re applying it yourself the phototex material will save you a fortune in time!

It’s also removable so is ideal for rented properties that need to be put back to original condition when vacated.

If you keep the backing paper it can even be reused somewhere else so has uses for pop up events and exhibition graphics in hotels.

    easydot is great nik, agreed!

there is something that needs to be considered with easydot though, i forgot what it is. could it be the time its left on will then pull paint or something?
sorry i could be wrong but sure was told of a downside recently, hence using the neschen from paperlinx as opposed to the easydot from them.

for those who recommends phototex: i tested a sample and it looks like it is not cutting plotter compliant so no contour cut possible. Are you contour cutting phototex?

For removable graphics we use Gekotex printable polyester available from tepede graphics. It has a Matt slightly textured appearance, contour cuts nicely and is not too expensive. Reposition and removal is good as long as the paintwork is sound.

We use solvent but there may be a pigment ink version. Speak to Clare at tepede on 01403 786867
