We have been asked to put up a 6m x 3m billboard , free standing.
We dont generally rig this size and have got riggers to install it. Thing is , the billbord is in a highish traffic area and I live in a very windy place.
Im concerned about 2 things , one is that there is no municipal planning for this , tho it’s on private property and no two is that the billboard can fall down (its being very well built tho) and harm people or property.
Is it generally accepted that the client signs a waiver for both the lack of permission and one to absolve us of any responsibility if the thing collapses?

    Hi Rodney,
I’d imagine that if you don’t own the billboard then the planning problem would be with your customer. If they sign it off as being their property and accept the limitations and your concerns about possible weather related issues then again I think you’d be okay. I would advise them in writing to obtain suitable insurance to cover any likely claims if it does head down the road with a tailwind.
Any claim would need to prove your neglicence in manufacture or installation before you would be liable.
    Regards,
    John.

Wouldnt hurt to add something to your terms and conditions stating that its the clients responsibility to obtain the necessary planning permissions etc etc

    John 😉
